Re: Band 1 on the run
I'm expecting us to get reamed, which is par for the course when it comes to the rubbery rules the AFL constantly change.
Clubs have been handed father/son players on a golden pillow, while others have given up nothing for academy players
North Melbourne are handed pick 3 in for a B Grade lady defender, while we will likely get pick 20 for a more competent player.
Funny how they always change the rules/formula just before we're about to benefit

Re: Band 1 on the run
St Kilda presently has pick 7 & 8 but those will certainly slip as Brisbane will queue jump to take father/son Ashcroft.

Re: Band 1 compensation
Well done by the pres for his preemptive swipe at the AFL this week. It appears to have hit the mark

Re: Band 1 compensation
I don’t really understand the outrage accross social media about this. Battle’s worth on an open market is probably around a mid first round pick. This is probably only slightly more than what he’d be worth if we traded him. Some how we have robbed the comp though.

Re: Band 1 compensation
That's worked out better for St Kilda than if he stayed. Get 2 rooly good players. Don't f*** it up like you did with Clark and Coffield!

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Band 1 compensation
Would you consider splitting the picks
Pick 8 for 15 & 20
Giving us picks
7, 15, 20, 25
Pick 8 for 15 & 20
Giving us picks
7, 15, 20, 25

Maybe but I'm not sure how good these guys are.

Great result. Only way the whole situation could be saved.
Now please please please don’t stuff this lay-up in the draft, we need mids!!

Re: Band 1 compensation
I don't think part of the compo calculation relates to 'has the president had a public sook'

You forget how much the AFL is a PR and perception management business now.
The decision effectively neutralises what we said, on everything including the academies.
