Draft Watch

Post: # 2079175Post B.M »

My wants this draft

Selection 8
Any of
O’Sullivan, Smith, Reid, Draper, O’Sullivan, Smillie, Langford.

Cannot lose with any of that group - all lay claims to being the best player of that draft class

Do not want at that selection
Trainor - in fact - any tall

Most probable
Reid or Lalor

Selection 9 (if we get that)
Again, who ever is left from this group
Would also consider Trainor if all of that group is taken and we got a quality mid in

Selection 19
Cooper Hynes - plays like Mitch Owens
This kid I know well, have done since he was 14. Always been an absolute jet.
If Trainor Slides would seriously think about him here

Selection 24
Christian Moraes - plays like Caleb Windsor
Outside mid with pace and finds the ball
Other option - a tall (one of the Whitlocks)

Selection 43 (trade)

Next Selection
Adrian Cole (match bid) - tall defender

Last selection/Rookie
Elwood Peckett
Great mates with Cooper Hynes - is a project play
HF/Mid

Where do these extra picks come from?

We have 7, 24, 43...before adjustments.
Im assuming we get end of round 1 /R2 early compo... but Pick 19? For what?

We need to delist 1 or 2 more to open up space

We will get either pick 9 or pick 19 as compensation for Battle - not both obviously

If we are looking at LDU as a free agent next year, I'd be up for trying to get our hands on Gold Coast pick 12 for our F1.
Take 4 kids inside top 30.

Reid at 8
Smilie at 9

Looks like a chance.

I like that idea, get #12 for next years first round pick and load up, assuming it is doable with GCS.

#8, #9 & #12 would be nice.

Space for who?

Already gone:
Battle
Allison
Van Es

that's 3 picks in the national draft sorted

Ross
Campbell
Bonner

That's a 4th round pick, a rookie elevation/pick, and a PSD/SSP pick.

We will only need to delist more if we're trading out picks for players.

If we draft 4 we need to open up one more spot

Moraes would be a steal at 24

He's very introverted and his performance fluctuates as a result.

Haven't seen all those guys play, but one I did like was Jack Whitlock, moves well, good hands, good size, decent kick looks like he could be a very good player at both ends of the ground.

Cole didn't impress me much, lacks physicality, I'd say rookie pick at best.

Cole did have some good games at CHB for vic metro so he must be able to play a bit.
He does need to put on some size though at 196cm and growing could develop.

Trainor concussion issues

I'd be looking at Lindsay - is a good decision maker and has a lethal kick also loves to get stuck in (tough) and has speed & agility (athletic ability)

Won the Morrish and was BOG in the Vic Metro v Country match

Not sure what the knock on him is

Lindsay could slot into the half back flank role pretty smoothly in his first couple of years

Good replacement for Jimmy Webster and should be able to transition into the midfield as his body grows.

I like him

Looks like a natural winger.
Lindsay and Wilson on the wings.

Assuming Lindsay slides to #25
