Re: Grand Final 2024
Aren't you embarrassed to even go there...after such a great game?
I saw 4 or 5 dubious calls that went Geelong's way...so what!!? It happens. It evens out
Lions were down by 4 goals early in the 3rd. They kicked the next 7 out of 8 goals to hit the lead. Nothing to do with umpire bias.
Geelong had their nose in front with 5 minutes to go. Brisbane won on merit

Umpires gave the free against Danger they also didn’t pay a clear mark to Guthrie.Scollop wrote: ↑Sat 21 Sep 2024 9:28pm Aren't you embarrassed to even go there...after such a great game?

Both meant the margin didn’t blow out.
Brisbane couldn’t get near it a the umpire gave a free against Stewart for body contact. GOAL
Hate Geelong but the umpires like last year decided the result.

Re: Grand Final 2024
If it wasn't already planning to, Gestapo HQ will most likely now have to sweep away the complaints made by those indigenous ex-Dawks players. Move along folks. Nothing to see here.
Why?
Because recent history tells us (with about only the one exception), that when one Prelim is close, and the other a is comfortable win... the winner of the close Premlin'... wins the flag. And generally, quite comfortably too.
So, it's looking like a Teddy Bears' picnic.
And Gestapo HQ doesn't want its reigning premiership coach with a (serious) racism asterisk hanging over his name.
Not that incoming club President Mark 'minisoldr' Robinson could give two shakes of a frog's ass about any of that.

Re: Grand Final 2024
Geelong were favoured to win against the away team
Brisbane's ruckman dislocates his shoulder early in the game and Geelong take control with 7 goals in the second quarter.
Brisbane were down by 25 points early in the 3rd.
Brisbane fight back with a brilliant 3rd quarter. Their mids dominate stoppage and centre clearances. Brisbane get 6 centre clearances to Geelong only 1.
Lachie Neale gets 6 clearances in the 3rd quarter. Geelong only 6 total for the 3rd quarter. Brisbane 11 clearances total.
Scores see saw in the last and Geelong hit the lead with under 5 minutes left until the final siren...
But apparently the umpires manufactured the result.

Re: Grand Final 2024
Brisbane should be mentally tougher than Sydney. Don’t particularly like either teams.
And the AFL and media can FRO playing the Fitzroy v South angle.
Total bulls***.

Could you come on here every Thursday and let us know the AFL agenda for the week. It would really help with my tipping.
Maybe you could start with this week.

Yep, the AFL rigged the game so they’d have 2 interstate clubs in the GF

Umpires should favour Sydney next week based on this moronic logic.

Re: Grand Final 2024
Terrific game to watch last night, 'football was the winner'. I never fail to be enthralled by the quality of footy nowadays.
The mental toughness of players like Lions ruckman Oscar McInerney in severe agony after dislocating his very large shoulder, getting that popped back in and strapped up, jabbed, then doing it a second time when he came back on, then getting carted away in an ambulance, that's just crazy!
Living in Brisbane I don't much like the Lions, I rarely see St Kilda win when they play at the Gabba, but have to admire the way they came from behind in the last two finals to beat very strong teams.
Sydney v Brisbane next Saturday will be like the NRL State of Origin games - the build up locally this week will reach fever pitch, but I'm hoping Swans come out on top.

It’s worked out well for me as I don’t have an issue with either team, so I don’t really care who wins, just want to see a good game!

Correction to my previous post re. Cats v Lions
Scores see sawed in the last quarter and Geelong hit the lead with 2 minutes 40 seconds left until the final siren...
Won't be disappointed if Brisbane get up but I think Swans win the Grand Final

Well done Scollop.Scollop wrote: ↑Mon 09 Sep 2024 11:01pm Based on what I saw in week 1, I’m tipping a Sydney vs Brisbane GF this year?
I think Hawks make it to a prelim and get knocked off by Sydney…and (obviously) I think Brisbane beat GWS next week and then they roll the Cats who usually don’t have answers against teams that pile on the pressure.
Who’s your tip for the two teams who progress to make it to the Grand Final?
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Re: Grand Final 2024
We were both wrong. Unless Sydney produce a miracle fightback, Brisbane have this sown up. Yes... I'm going a bit early, but I can't see Brisbane losing from here
Half time scores
Brisbane 11. 7 - 73
Sydney 4.3 - 27
As I said in this thread... I'm not disappointed if Brisbane get up. Embarrassing for David King and other critics of Chris Fagan

Re: Grand Final 2024
Yeah hard to see Brisbane losing from here, tho there has been a few crazy comebacks this season.
Darcy Wilson was very keen with the half time sprint, would like to see a camera on the finish line! Tho I’m also pretty sure he jumped the start

Only our beloved saints could screw this up from here and probably in ludicrously tragic circumstances. Go Brions!

Re: Grand Final 2024
Going into this finals series, I rated the Poodles and the Teddies as having the best lists. Based both in general, and on when we played them.
I have no inside intel,' but something strikes me as being clearly amiss at the kennel. (Same story too at the Dreamons.)
The Teddies' issue I reckon, was their inaccuracy...
And all that said, I still maintain that no premier since 2011 would have beaten the 2009-2010 versions of Geelong, Skunks, or... us. And of course, we know which of those three didn't win a flag.
Since then, there have been flags to be stolen. But we haven't been there to try and steal one.
There are still flags to be stolen.
I really hope we play finals so we can have a go at that. We aren't that far off the top teams IMHO. And if blokes like Keeler, Owens, Lancey Boy and King can achieve their potential, then we'd dominate the competition. (Yep, I know, it's an 'if', but our 'potential' upside is that high.)
