Re: 8 more years of Max King
Why
Is he the only player on the list
Isn’t that the problem- the line of thinking that he’s the only forward
Higgins, Caminiti, Collard, Garcia, Sharman
Also able to play a bit

Re: 8 more years of Max King
Honestly, I've been buying membership for a long time,
but this has me conflicted.
He's not worthy to clean Rooey's boots, but here he is disgracing the #12 by running away from the club while he's rehabbing, and being placed on damn PEDESTAL
What message does it send to the others who work their butts off without sulking the way he does
but this has me conflicted.

And one year of Zak Jones. Apparently the pay is slightly less.

Re: 8 more years of Max King
I wouldn't blame Sharman or Caminiti if they requested a trade at contract renewal time.
They deserve more respect.
Question: has the Sook ever come back via the Zebs, or has he come straight in after an injury lay-off?

Because due to the (inevitable) cost and length of the contract, if he’s a bust, we’re f**ked!

Smart move
Cap goes up 2 CBAs in that time
Clubs will come for him with big $
Front load now use extra cash later to sure up others but key forward who kicked 50 in year 2 locked away
Sure it will have plenty of clauses
Good that he sees the direction also
Now get NAS done …

Great. At last the club has done something reasonable. Although most of the recent crap has come from the press and not the club.

When he got injured rrcently, Ross said Max was getting away from the club to get his head clear.King Max wrote: ↑Wed 18 Sep 2024 11:09pmWhat’s this about him running away from the club?WellardSaint wrote: ↑Wed 18 Sep 2024 9:47pm Honestly, I've been buying membership for a long tome,

Re: 8 more years of Max King
Without doing any analysis on the quality of opposition or home vs away etc, over the last two seasons (47 games) we have won 10 games with King and won 14 games without him. Seems like we are slightly better without him.The_Dud wrote: ↑Wed 18 Sep 2024 10:21pmWe score more and win more when King isn’t playing since Ross arrived.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Wed 18 Sep 2024 10:13pm Someone tell me how many games we won w/out King in the last 2 yrs.

However, over the last two years on average scores we are only just over 4 points better off without him (74.4 point avg vs 78.7 point avg), so not really a major change to our offensive performance.
If you change the Rd 17 2023 game against Melbourne to no Max (given he got injured after 1% of game time), the averages change to 75.1 points with vs 77.9 points without, just under 3 points difference.
In reality, it isn't really a big enough sample size (only just over 20 games either way, look at the impact of flipping that one game), and there is a pretty big mitigating factor over the last two years being him clearly being hampered by injury stopping him from performing consistently (particularly in 2024 where he was performing a goal worse per game, 1.58 vs 2.55 avg).
Just as a hypothetical, I added an extra goal to all games Max played in 2024 (to simulate his 2023 goal output, noting he was still very impacted by injury in that year), it actually levels out our average scoring over those last two years to 78 points with, 78.7 points without (or with the Melbourne game flipped actually sees Max better at 78.9 avg with vs 77.9 avg without), but interestingly it actually flips 3 games, GWS in round 6, Hawks in round 10, and Port in round 17 which could have seen us finish on 14 wins and likely 7th on the ladder.
Tldr: Over 2 years of injured Max we are still only 3-4 points worse off per game. Lots of room for upside with healthy Max so fingers crossed he can get his body right.

I can't guarantee that I will live long enough to see the end of the sook.
I have been waiting 58 years for another premiership, why won't the club let me see another ?

Re: 8 more years of Max King
Well, it does mean he's locked up until 2030, if what is being reported is accurate.
That makes it much harder for an opposition club to pinch him. Having said that, contracts mean bugger all these days, with about 40℅ of players who were traded over the past few years being contracted at the time.
RTB and the Knights of the Round Table obviously rate him and see him as a critical part of our forward line. We know what Max can do. It's a gamble worth taking, IMHO.

Re: 8 more years of Max King
This signing is imperative if we are serious about recruiting free agents and building and maintaining a quality list.
We’ve lost Battle & Gresham to FA, if King was to also leave what is the message we send to the competition and to our own players coming through.
A fit and firing King is critical to our chances if we are to become a contender.
Yes it’s rolling the dice with the reported contract length, but I’d rather give this to our own home grown talent.
I back Max to fulfill his potential starting in 2025.

So glad I found this thread before the same old posters put this topic into a total mentdown.

Re: 8 more years of Max King
Hope King does well, but he has already had a number of injuries which have put him out of the team for extended periods, and looks to have an eggshell body which means the compounding effect of more injuries during a season which we don't want from key players.

Re: 8 more years of Max King
I'm sure the club knows more about his so-called 'eggshell body' than any supporters so they must know that there is light at the end of the tunnel. It seems to me that what Max needs now is to know everyone in behind him as a lack of confidence is an important hidden factor that can easily lead to injury.
