The Harmless Grinch
We beat the Swans and they still finished top of the ladder.
We beat the Cats and they still finished third, which is as high as they could have finished even if they'd beaten us (assuming it was a modest win).
We beat Carlton and they still finished eighth, which is as high as they could have finished even if they'd beaten us.
We beat the Injectors and they still finished 11th, which is as high as they could have finished even if they'd beaten us.

Re: The Harmless Grinch
Interesting observation but you don't purely benefit as a team by knocking someone out of the top 4 or the top 8.
You learn and challenge your players and learn about preparation and consistency. The team gains confidence for 2025 and beyond. You benefit by the way you play and creating a winning culture.

Re: The Harmless Grinch
Thrashing Essendon, beating Cats easy, falling in against the Swans, and winning a game against Carlton at the death with 12 seconds left on the clock is pretty much a quadrella for me!
Your friendly neighbourhood samurai.

They were crapping themselves in the week leading up to the game as well.

Are the results about what we did to them or what it meant to us?Waltzing St Kilda wrote: ↑Tue 27 Aug 2024 6:27pm We beat the Swans and they still finished top of the ladder.

Personally I’d have put up shutters after cats win , I saw enough to know future is bright and liked pick5
But that’s beside the point
Club clearly felt we needed to send a message to our supporters re future and I think 6/8 wins at back end when we started to get sone midfield consistency proved it
We are coached very well no doubt and if that midfield can be strengthened…I think we look ok ….Boss knows that

I want the team to keep rewarding our faith and improve, and to give rewards/acknowledgement to these guysTeflon wrote: ↑Wed 28 Aug 2024 2:02pmAre the results about what we did to them or what it meant to us?Waltzing St Kilda wrote: ↑Tue 27 Aug 2024 6:27pm We beat the Swans and they still finished top of the ladder.

Harves, Goddard, Boris- for their efforts and belief
RTB getting praise and pats on the back is secondary to our assistants, IMHO.
The assistants are the ones who I want to feel proud
A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.

Re: The Harmless Grinch
I just hope that the Higgins goal isn't recognised in furture as the moment we lost access to the new Chris Judd.
Then again, it ws the most hilarious and enjoyable moment of the year and a fitting end to the season.

It does remind me of when Daniel Wulf hit the post against Sydney to draw the final game of 2002 and cost us a priority pick which would have been Daniel Wells....Waltzing St Kilda wrote: ↑Wed 28 Aug 2024 6:42pm I just hope that the Higgins goal isn't recognised in furture as the moment we lost access to the new Chris Judd.

Or instead of picking that dud we had our eye on at 5 we settle for the new Chris Judd at 7.Waltzing St Kilda wrote: ↑Wed 28 Aug 2024 6:42pm I just hope that the Higgins goal isn't recognised in furture as the moment we lost access to the new Chris Judd.

Re: The Harmless Grinch
didn't we more importantly beat the reigning premiers, costing them a finals spot?
