I understand that Battle wants to secure his future and look after his family. He could have done that at St Kilda - how much does a person need? Unless he is a complete fool (which I am not saying or implying), he still has many years of earning working life to look after his family after football. Sorry, I think we have nurtured this fellow from a schoolboy to now and just as he reaches some form of peak.......This is a bigger loss that one player. This is cohesion in our backline damaged in my opinion. Greater than the sum of their parts and all that stuff. I feel we have been "Coffielded".

It was reported we upped the offer, but the Hawks didn't have to match or beat or anything. He is unrestricted so he could have gone to them for $1 a season of he was really desperate to get out and there would have been nothing we could have done about it. Hopefully they did though because it was also reported that their offer wasn't enough for after first pick compo (which was why we upped our offer).

Now we just wait and see what the secret compo calculation spits out for us.
