Seb Ross
Great career
The most underrated player (by supporters) in my memory
The only dual B&F whipping boy I know of
211 games
2 x B&F
1 x Runner Up B&F
AA squad
7 years in leadership group
Vice Captain (acting captain for a season)
I respect all saints players, particularly the good ones. He was a ripper!

Re: Seb Ross
Yes he was a good player but maybe the game has passed him by. Unfortunately the team doesn't need him going forward.

Re: Seb Ross
Good player and servant of the club
Nowhere near as bad as he was made out by some (and perhaps nowhere near as good as some others made out)
Sad he was injured and didn’t get to enjoy a proper farewell game for the club

Re: Seb Ross
Looks like he is keen to pursue his options elsewhere.
Good luck to him.
Quality individual, very good career.
From outsiders perspective, you think the type of person who could transition into a coaching role or development role.
Doesn't seem he's finished playing just yet.
Embarrassing that a player of his standing is delisted, I think he deserves better, but I don't know the circumstances so hard to comment.

Re: Seb Ross
Under-rated by many supporters, a great servant of the club.
I think it is the right decision. Interesting to see if he is picked up by another club.

Re: Seb Ross
I doubt it. Maybe Richmond could use him if they have a cleanout.

Will always be remembered as part of St Kilda FC.
Would have been great to see him get a farewell game. I understand the reasoning behind not offering him a contract, but I don't agree with it. Especially if a guy like Crouch (who'll be remembered as an Adelaide player) is retained on the list.

Re: Seb Ross
The issue isn't if Crouch is retained because unlike Ross he still has a contract.
If they offered Crouch a new contract then it would be a comparable situation.
Ross was a fantastic servant to the St Kilda football club and I wish him all the best with everything.
He deserves our utmost respect.

Re: Seb Ross
How does Crouch have a contract? He was battling to be fit and we apparently gifted him a game in round 1 when we knew it would trigger an extra year.SinCitySainter wrote: ↑Wed 28 Aug 2024 6:35pm The issue isn't if Crouch is retained because unlike Ross he still has a contract.
Not smart. It's not a good feeling for a loyal servant like Seb getting delisted or playing in different colours and at the same time Crouch sitting in rehab in 2025
All the forward planning on list management should be something the club looks at 1 or 2 years prior to decisions like this one where they're delisting Seb and possibly retaining Crouch.
I understand the club must be ruthless in some respects, but that needs to translate to all players, not just the coach's favourites.
Crouch did not perform at his best in the last game of 2023...So you can't say we needed him or that we had to play him round 1 this year. He was also gifted games, in my opinion, in 2023 when he was out of form in the middle part of the year.

However, I do feel his best and fairest wins came at a time where our talent pool was depressingly thin for a prolonged period.

1 – Sebastian Ross (159 votes)
2 – Dylan Roberton (124)
3 – Jarryn Geary (121)
4 – Jake Carlisle (119)
5 – Jack Billings (110)
6 – Jack Steven (108)
7 – Jimmy Webster (88)

“Ross caps brilliant season with first Trevor Barker Award”
He won by a mile!!! Made the AA squad averaging 29ppg
Maybe short memories
I wish I was the worst StK FC Capt, dual B&F, 200 gamer!!!

I know his time's up but I'm sorry to see him go like this. Would've liked him to be able to stick with us till he retired. Mind you, it happened all that time ago with Winmar. God, I hated seeing him run around in a Bulldogs jumper.

Re: Seb Ross
Was it his fault he played in a weak era?
Does it matter? He still played well didn’t he?!
He played 3 finals, and played in pretty good seasons in 16/17/20/23
Trevor Barker never played in a final, was in 6 wooden spoon seasons (including 4 in a row, ironically as captain) does that diminish his glittering career?!
Greg burns won 2 B&Fs in wooden spoon seasons - does that mean they are worthless?
Sometimes getting a kick in a s*** team is not that easy! Which is why Tony Lockett is better than Jason Dunstall

Re: Seb Ross
He made the AA squad from a crap team at the time and fully deserved it, that is a significant effort.
He has been a great servant for the club and for a period was an A grade midfielder and the only A grader we had on the list at the time.
Nobody should diminish what he achieved for this club.

Re: Seb Ross
one of only 14 2 times B & F winners, 200 Games.
Got most out of his skill set.
Kicking let him down at times, hence the whipping boy matter with fans who i think were hanging out for a new star midfielder and he was as close as we had.
Great career and clubman

Good player
Fantastic career
Had a strong end to his time with us 2024 notwithstanding… have really enjoyed his last few seasons which were less for numbers but more for impact
Disappointing to see him delisted

I think Lyon wants players with pinpoint disposal.

Re: Seb Ross
Be interesting to see if another club gives him a life line? North are the most likely but they have a pretty strong young midfield group.

Re: Seb Ross
Seb had a good, solid career. Courageous and always gave his all. Now, it appears his body has given up on him and the club has in turn, given up on him.
If he wants to go on, I hope he finds another club. If he doesn't, I'd really like to see him snapped up by Sandringham as a coach, or maybe even to squeeze a year of playing out of him, mentoring our young players.
All the best to him.
