Usually is very smart and his ‘tricks’ pay off, but not today

Re: Dan Butler
Yep. He should just grab the ball. Kick it long. He's forgotten how to do that.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Dan Butler
He knew that the tap on against Geelong was going to a Saints player. Yesterday, he didn't know who was behind him - so that issue was, grab it and run the risk of being caught on the turn, or tap the ball forward and hope as Saints player is there to contest. Easier to decide in hindsight.

Re: Dan Butler
Those little things are a blight on his game, they are not as common as they were but are still not the team thing to be doing. Grab the ball take the tackle if you have Dan and stop trying to be so bloody cute!

Re: Dan Butler
Butler was good scoreboard value in his first one or two seasons with us, but we really need more scoreboard action from our flankers and smalls. Higgins we know will snag a few here and there, but we need another effective scoring crumber I reckon.

Re: Dan Butler
Butler kicks goals when Butler is in the forward line
Pretty difficult to crumb or have an opportunity to kick goals if you spend half your game time in defence. Lyon wanted a dour game against Carlton. It wasn't a free flowing contest.
In the match against Geelong he spent only 25% time in defence. He kicked 1 goal
In the match against Richmond in round 22 he only spent 20% game time in defence, he kicked 2 goals.

Re: Dan Butler
Wouldn’t that variation be just because where the ball was mostly
I reckon I could’ve kicked a couple vs Richmond
They are putrid

Re: Dan Butler
Hopefully he has a strong pre season and some luck on the injury front in 25, he's got one more peak you'd think.
