I was absolutely rapt at draft time
Phillipou I rated top 6 to get him at 10 was excellent
He is proving to be better than his selection imo
Hotton I rated at time of drafting - he’s been disappointing - lucky to be re rookied has had some injuries but looks a bit off pace
Van Es I rated - injury hit and ordinary- probably delisted. Good size, good athlete, hands are poor, double grabs.
Keeler - great selection - he has the attributes to play that magical position no one can! (Except Darcy from Dogs) Forward/ruck!!!! He is light, but moves beautifully! Problem is probably his appetite for the contest! Is he strong enough to compete with 100kg defenders or worse 105-100kg ruckmen?
He has Paddy Ryder size - but probably not the competitiveness or ability - or maybe he does - because there is flashes. Just not consistency.
Spencer White or a player??? Not sure yet

McLennan is a back up utility defender in between size. Good overhead for his size. If he was 196cm we’d have a player - but he’s not. He’s a poor man’s Webster, or Paton

Heath - just needs more work on the track and in the Gym
He’s the opposite to Keeler
Has the size, and competes but lacks athleticism and ability
Great summary B.M

Out of curiosity who are you eyeing in the draft this year?

Would be great if we could pick up Adrian Cole from our academy and Elwood Peckett in father son Cole is 196cm KPD and Peckett a mid not sure what the rules are about FS, and Academy by this years draft.

Heath is the same player he was two years ago. I've not seen any real development in him. It's a shame. He looked promising in his first year with us.

Hotton has had a lot of injuries and yet to have a proper preseason. I wouldn't put a line through him yet. Same applies to Van Es. Let him get fit and then see what he can do.

Keeler is very slightly built. He's more suited to a flanker's role at this stage. I'm surprised they have played him on a wing at Sandy to he how he'd go in a running role. Playing in that Sandy forward line wouldn't be helpful to anyone's development

He's been just average as a defender at Sandy and doesn't have the strength or weight to play against key forwards

If we get top 10 compo for Battle draft the best available mids with our first picks than Cole with a latter pick or Trainer if by some chance he slips to our second round pick.

A stab pass was a short drop kick, not a low drop punt.

Correct. My father who was a a very good country footballer from Ararat who Melbourne signed as a teenager, could knock me arse over tit with his stab passes, one of which went slightly over my head one day and ended up with my mother in the bath.

Left a perfectly round hole in the window which was one of those ones with embedded wire.

An early favourite for the 2025 Rising Star ? Given his age and small number of games he has played, I understand he is still eligible next season.

Yeah, less than 10 games I think is the cut off?

He seems like the guy to put in the effort so hopefully he gets a good run at it

I hope he is not the sub this week.

Perhaps Jones or Byrnes might be a decent choice.
Both can come on and have an immediate impact with their run and both can win their own ball.
