It doesn't really matter at this time, as the season has been a stuff up and we might as well go through the motions and try our best, and why bother thinking out of the box- Lyon has never been known for that.

We won't win this week.
We might beat the Blues but it won't matter whether we win or lose both.
We need to have a really good pre-season and nail our pics

I’m surprised say a Keeler or a Moose doesn’t come in and sub out Marshall or a Membrey to give them a spell for next year?

It kind of does matter, we can still overtake Melb or GC or we could still finish below Adelaide.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Thu 15 Aug 2024 8:11pm We won't win this week.

Finishing with the 6th pick or the 4th pick could make a huge difference depending on what you feel is more important this year... better draft position or better ladder finish..

I doubt Moose is in consideration given that he’s been off injured though I’d like to seen him play.TheGreatZacsby wrote: ↑Thu 15 Aug 2024 8:26pm I’m surprised say a Keeler or a Moose doesn’t come in and sub out Marshall or a Membrey to give them a spell for next year?
Reports on Keeler have been positive. Would love to see him sneak in a game or two

I don't think we want to win as badly as Geelong want to win. They will be ruthless to try and secure a top 4 spot and the double chance in finals.
If I see our players start to harrass Dangerfield and if I see a coordinated effort to rough him up and all our boys are willing to get involved, then I will be convinced that this match means something to St Kilda as much as it does for Geelong
Go Saints!

Footballers want to win football games.
This time last year the Dogs were clinging on to 8th spot and were playing the Eagles at home who just needed to lose the last two games to secure the number 1 pick.
Jamie Cripps kicked 3 in the last quarter and the Dogs missed out on finals by half a game.

It is far more beneficial to lose the last two games.
Clarkson stuffed up big time last year losing Harley Ried.
Getting the highest draft pick should be the clubs priority.

We need to beat sides in the finals mix, otherwise, where are we headed?
Finishing the season 8-4 or 7-5 gives us great momentum to take into 2025 and instills belief in the players and coaches - and supporters.
And if we can stop Carlton playing finals, that matters.

Yes but we need to have those type of victories when it matters for us too.Beno88 wrote: ↑Fri 16 Aug 2024 8:59amIt matters.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Thu 15 Aug 2024 8:11pm We won't win this week.

We have to prove we can play when the pressure is on us too, a massive difference when you have nothing to lose.
Pointless winning these next two games when there is no pressure on and individuals are playing for their own future.
Take Byrnes for example, has been playing better late in the season, why is that, could it be he's playing for his future.
Jones aslo, has looked like he gives a crap in recent games, why is that, because earlier in the season he looked disinterested.
All good and well to play good in dead rubbers but we need to build a team that puts in when it matters.

I think we’ll lose this week and win next week. Carlton probably won’t be able to make the finals in the last round.
Collingwood
Carlton
Melbourne
Quite a fall from grace.

Re: Team v Cats In Garcia, out McLennan
Vortex mentioned Ronnie Byrnes and Towball being v good recently.
Corrrect. Why couldn't they find that form earlier? To help when it counted? Also Sharman vs a very slack Bombers side.
I would keep Sharman, but wouldn't miss Byrnes or Jones.
Too little, too late for them. If they were serious, they would've pulled their fingers out earlier.
It reminds me of my current workplace- there's 4 or 5 people who usually ring up sick on days that are forecast to be our busiest.
You aren't a bloody team player if you pick and choose when you'll do the heavy lifting, because you'd rather others do all the damn work.
Makes me really angry

Re: Team v Cats In Garcia, out McLennan
I'm not certain about that. He's a supremely-talented young player, but Reid plays the game with far too much ingrained aggression for senior football in the current era, where there are four umpires and cameras record a player's every move. Quite a bit of work will be required to coach this out of him, and it might not be entirely possible. Look at all of the problems Ben Long has had in his career, and he didn't come into the AFL looking half as aggro as Reid has this season.
