New Logo Incoming
So apparently the St Kilda brand is going to have a refresh.
https://www.afl.com.au/news/1190784/fre ... -new-logos
New logo, the first time in over 30 years.
"After considerable consultation with members and stakeholders we are in the final stages of a refresh to our logo," a Saints spokesperson told AFL.com.au in a statement.
Did anyone on here get consulted as a member?
I don’t remember that email?
I don’t mind, but he line “considerable consultation with members” had me questioning the process.

Was about to post this myself. And no, I didn’t receive anything from the club in regards to this.

So why didn't we just renew his contract instead of playing smartarse brinkmanship. Loyalty is a two way street, yes?Sainternist wrote: ↑Thu 08 Aug 2024 8:57pm Was about to post this myself. And no, I didn’t receive anything from the club in regards to this.
Were the decision makers seriously thinking of not renewing or manoeuvring to drop the price a few grand. Ross didn't reneg on a contract did he? just got fed up and we were out smarted by Freo.
What's Latin for Nettlefold's a d**khead?

Thank god! The logo has needed to be changed for years. We look second rate when these new designs from other teams look first class

About bloody time!!!
Don’t underestimate the strength a rebrand can have to an organisation, especially one marred with so little success.

I’ve requested the latin be updated to Quis ipsos judices judicabit? (“Who will umpire the umpires?”) in solidarity with Curly

I wasn't consulted!
Maybe I will be insulted?

Tokenism.
I'd rather they tell me how they are going to become winners rather than bothering me with Logo changes.

A logo change will
- turn us into a destination club
- solve our midfield issues
- create a supportive environment for anyone wearing #12 to cease being an entitled whiney sook and carry the number with pride
Logo change is a masterstroke.

Re: New Logo Incoming
If it's the St.K.F.C. across the shield they're removing then I am absolutely against it. That little bit of typography is my favourite thing in the whole design -- and has been since childhood.
Other things I agree could be changed if necessary, though I'd prefer it if they weren't
The mascot is what needs changing, not the crest!!
Generally, our graphics department has been doing brilliantly over quite a few years now.
I hope they would advise the club not to mess with the one bit of logo design that continues to work perfectly.
And eternally.

Re: New Logo Incoming
Thinking of tweaking the colours as well?
Using the RTB theme could be Red - Translucent - Black.
And, to boost marketing, have the translucent/white panel variously show the component colours on different weeks: i.e. Violet (v Freo), Indigo ( rhymes with havago round), Blue (mental health round), Green (environment round), Yellow (already in the rotation), Orange (for GWS games) and Red (v Swans).
As for the logo I am going to suggest the name "Panel Beaters".
(Get it? our jumper has colour panels; panel beaters knock the crap out of things and beating can mean winning? Oh you did get it, didn't like it. OK.
Oh well.

Yeah, but they use a process driven approach to communicate to key stakeholders.

ST.K.F.C. is not the brand. ST KILDA is. Market the brand.avid wrote: ↑Sat 10 Aug 2024 3:27pm If it's the St.K.F.C. across the shield they're removing then I am absolutely against it. That little bit of typography is my favourite thing in the whole design -- and had been since childhood.

An eternally.
Furthermore, the dot below the T has always annoyed me, it’s incorrect, there’s no dot in St Kilda.

Re: New Logo Incoming
The correct spelling is St Kilda. No dot.
Just like St John Ambulance or St Vincent’s Hospital.
It is an abbreviation that doesn’t always use a dot.

Re: New Logo Incoming
The St with the t elevated is an old way of abbreviating names. Like Chas - or Wm, often with a little line under the 'has' or the 'm'. Or sometimes a dot under a single letter.
Obviously old fashioned -- but I always found it intriguing, and special. And still do.
It's like the font + typography of the London Underground -- it's world heritage, and must never be changed.
I also agree strongly with pedants like you B88 that St Kilda should NEVER be spelt Saint Kilda.
Some things like this are just sacrosanct.
