Trade Wanganeen-Milera and Phillipou back to Adelaide using their Trade currency for Second Round picks
Trade King to GC to play with his brother for another Second Round pick
And delist everyone else wiping St Kilda FC from the competition
The compensation from the liquidation addressing the body's insolvent state with a Final Creditor payment of 10 cents in the $1-
You know it makes sense
And in that way we do not have to remunerate the dud Lyon

“To stay consistent with what we endure from some on here”
If it has to be spelled out further, well, the less said the better
The point is that we have a core of competition elite best, we have a core of developing youth and we have some loyal foot soldiers
Who should be delisted at season’s end?
I have no idea because the assessment will be progress versus expectation, noting the demographics of the List (versus what it was a few years ago)
And, in terms of the kids at Sandringham, you need to put some experience on the park with them
So I would imagine some loyal Club players will be retained for this reason

Membrey- probably the same
Howard - perhaps trade
Jones - delisted - probably end up at Port Melb or Frankston
Allison - delist
Crouch - delist (knee farked)
Hayes - Perhaps delist same reason as Crouch
Maybe kept
Paton
Byrnes
Cordy
As depth?
Maybe a year for JWeb?
There will be a lot of changes
I thought Cordy signed a 3 year deal this is his second year so cordy is safe for 1 more year at least.
Allison delisted
Hotton delisted
Ross retired
Campbell retired
Heath not sure depends if we get another ruckman in trade period
Battle free agent gone
Mc Cleland delisted
Jones delisted/1 year extension
Patton delisted
Byrnes 2 year deal
Hayes delisted ( I really like him when fit but needs to be on park more) but is 29 next year
Jimmy Van es 1 year deal when fit shows a bit

Re: Delistings/Retirements
What has Van Es showed?
He was terrible at VFL level last season, injury this season
Hotton at least booted 5 in a vfl game this season

Re: Delistings/Retirements
But Allison kicked 5 in one match also
Where the Club has the benefit is that it knows what instruction is being given to players to improve and that the Club sees them at every practice session plus sees contribution to Club (including rehabilitation from injury)
When players come into a side as 18 year olds straight from under aged levels, potential and delivery on that potential are the assessment criteria
And that delivery may take a couple of years
What have Sinclair, Marshall and Wilkie taught us?

Re: Delistings/Retirements
They’ve taught us that it was recruiting mistake to overlook them!
Marshall - ruckman can develop later - but how he was missed is beyond me
Wilkie - 2 x Best and Fairests by 21yo in the SANFL
Obviously overlooked due to perceived size issue and lack of athleticism - mistakenly
Sinclair- I could see his ability playing as a small forward in 2015 when he kicked 18 goals in 18 games. If he hadn’t messed around with cricket in year 11 he would’ve been taken in the ND. Always highly skilled.

Re: Delistings/Retirements
I predicted at the start of the season Heath needed to debut this year to remain on the list beyond 2024.
Anyone think he can make it at the elite level?

Re: Delistings/Retirements
It’s a hard one because short of debut… he’s improved quite markedly. A challenge with RTB teams however is that he doesn’t rest/rotate players all that much and when he has a clear favourite for a role ala Marshall (and why wouldn’t he), he doesn’t mess with the formula.
Ergo Heath was only ever going to play if he could start forward more like Jack Hayes. Personally, I’d keep hi lm on the list as he’s still quite young, noting that Marshall himself was a later bloomer.
Heath is still the best developing young ruck draft prospect we’ve had for a while

Re: Delistings/Retirements
Meek and Xerri are both mid 20s and took forever to develop into, arguably, top echelon rucks who will be dominant over the next seasons. Max needs another couple of preseasons and schooling.

Re: Delistings/Retirements
According to some here we will need to recruit 1/3rd of our list, which is crazy we haven't finished bottom and clean outs of that size never end well.
Delisted :
Allison
Hotton
Campbell
Patton
Retired :
Campbell
Crouch(inj?)
Trade:
Membrey (gut feel no intel) - likely suitors based on need experienced key forward Geelong, Melbourne, Collingwood
Jones - 3 weeks ago absolutely in first list, now not sure - is it a Luke Dunstan scenario or has RL found faith in him?
Ross may get another year if crouch goes
Battle - I just hope the fact they are sniffing Barrass also means that they now think he will stay
Without trades and bottom 2 that is 6 changes to the list , seems about a good balance.

Re: Delistings/Retirements
It's always a moving target.
Membrey and Jones were both on the chopping block and have resurrected their careers with 3-4 games of good performance.
I think Allison, Hotton, Campbell are gone regardless. That's our 3 main draft selections covered.
Beyond that you want to replace to improve.
Is a 4th round, rookie selection, or supplemental pick worth delisting any more?

Re: Delistings/Retirements
I think Membrey, Jones and Byrnes have showed enough recently to earn another year. We should probably cut Crouch loose unfortunately since degenerative knees at his age are not something that is often turned around. Heath is showing enough that I think we can let Campbell go. Van Es gets another chance, maybe moved to the rookie list. It may be hopeful on my part but surely we get rid of Bonner - he's very clearly demonstrated that he's not up to it, and we have plenty of attacking half backs already.
Out:
Ross
Campbell
Crouch
Allison
Paton
Bonner
Hotton
Hayes
Battle (FA)

Agree with this although wouldn't object to Paton, Bonner, Hotton being retained and Battle electing to stay.

Re: Delistings/Retirements
The Lions game would have hardened opinions about the dispensability, and its length?
Most on expiring agreements should feel vulnerable.
Performances in last 3 will be interesting.
Ben Long's blinder v Sydney late in a season scored him a lucrative offer from the Suns.

Re: Delistings/Retirements
Who you keep depends greatly on who you can get.
Going to the National draft for around 4 ish ?
We usually offload about 7 ish
Only about 3 ish to be cut ?
Jones, Seb and Crouch are most likely.
If Josh goes we take 5 in the draft.

Re: Delistings/Retirements
We historically offload 7-9, I thinks they'd like to do 9 this year but how do you replace them with only 3 live picks in the draft at this point.
Delisted
Allison
Van Es
Hotton
Hayes
Jones
Retire two of...
Ross?
Crouch?
Membrey?
Webster?
Campbell?
FA
Battle
4 live picks in the draft.
Where do we get the other 4-5 players from?
Trade next years picks?
DFA?
Swap players?
Rookies?
Maybe Campbell, Jones, Ross get another year as depth and development at Sandy?
TBH, no clue, just guessing.

50 50. My guess is that he’ll be retained.
Isn’t Hotton highly thought of by the coaching staff?
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.

Re: Delistings/Retirements
Not sure why people think Bonner would be delisted. Has played 19 of a possible 20 games this year, and missed just the one (Sydney) as a late out due to foot injury.
It would be utterly perplexing if we delisted him after putting him in the team week in week out for a whole year, but of course sometimes the club does do utterly perplexing things...

Jarod Leinert played a few games in 22 and was then delisted at the end of that season.shrodes wrote: ↑Wed 07 Aug 2024 12:44pmNot sure why people think Bonner would be delisted. Has played 19 of a possible 20 games this year, and missed just the one (Sydney) as a late out due to foot injury.

I was a bit surprised at the time as I thought he was OK depth and used it pretty well.
Wouldn't have been 20 games, but maybe 12 or 13?
I don't think Boner will be delisted, but I would not be too upset if he was.

Re: Delistings/Retirements
Surely Riley bonner is at the front of the line to get delisted. Cannot remember a worst individual season by a player for us in recent times.
