Gus McLennan to potentially debut
With Tony74 stating Hunter Clark is out with tightness I went to see the squad selection, Phillipou is starting on the ground.
When I flicked from field view to list view on the saints website I saw below that Gus McLennan is debuting! He deserves it! Had a great game last week!

Re: Gus McLennan to potentially debut
If you go by the team list (AFL site) the following players are in...Mattaes Phillipou, Paddy Dow, Tom Campbell, Angus McLennan without a sub being named and Clark, Jones, Butler, Wilson. Bonner & Garcia out.TheGreatZacsby wrote: ↑Thu 01 Aug 2024 9:05pmIt says on the team list (debut) so I reckon he will at least be sub
I hope he gets a gig but I doubt it.

Just wondering what he's like?
Has he been doing well at Sandy. I haven't read much about him.

Bad luck Gus, i was hoping to see how well you performed the Sub role in your first game.
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

He still hasn’t called his mum but she’s there to see his debut.

Re: Gus McLennan to potentially debut
Thought he did ok in a horrible team performance
14 disposals 7 marks 2 tackles and went at 92%DE
The experience will be invaluable
Well done Gus!!

Re: Gus McLennan to potentially debut
Hard agree, great first game.
Hard to say without some more vision how his play style might have let Brisbane score. There were no clangers in individual contests but possibly positioning opened up our back 6 a bit. I'm sure the club will see that for what it is.

I hope he gets more opportunities. He only played because Byrnes was ill, but I'm glad he got the nod. I'm a fan. He's great overhead, is really brave and is a neat kick.

From what I saw at the game he looked good. He looks like Coffield.

Ross wasn't in the mood to praise any of his players. Anything above a derisory scoffing was reasonable acknowledgement.

Re: Gus McLennan to potentially debut
Well done Gus an excellent debut game. Hopefully its the first of many for the Saints!
And to think half this forum were delisting him at seasons end.... some kids have it immediately some take a year of two, but our recruiting and development is 500% better than it has been in past eras. Its a credit to the club because the Sandringham alignment is a distaster. The sooner we can finance a stand alone VFL side the better off our club and development will be.

Impressive debut by Gus in a tough game- a pity the more experienced players showed little leadership to guide him along
