Re: Sandringham
Agree Sandringhams lack of run and link play was telling. A poorly skilled and resourced side, even half the Saints listed players are sub standard. Not to speak of the Sandi top up group they would be the least talented in the comp.
Plus I cant people believe Cole's game was ok, he was quite poor and looked timid a number of times.

Re: Sandringham
I think there was slight wind assist. Was a cross breeze pushing sort of diagonally towards our goal in the last quarter wasn’t overly strong though.saynta wrote: ↑Sun 28 Jul 2024 5:29pmNo. Just a torp. Excellently executed.Sainter_Dad wrote: ↑Sun 28 Jul 2024 5:14pmI know the wind died down after the 1st - so was it wind assisted?Brunswicksainter wrote: ↑Sun 28 Jul 2024 4:58pmYeah 70 meter barrel. Thought he was close to our best on the day, should be getting a call up as sub next week.Sainter_Dad wrote: ↑Sun 28 Jul 2024 4:43pm All over
Sandy Lost 62 - 67
Was it Ari that kicked in from the point and it hit the middle leading to Ollie Lowe's goal in the last?
He called it and executed perfectly.

Re: Sandringham
That was my thought too after watching him in the 1's. He should sort that out as he gets more confidence, experience along with coaching support. He may be in the process of learning how to do what is possibly not automatic to him - finding the best option and hitting that target from short, medium and long distances.amusingname wrote: ↑Sun 28 Jul 2024 5:16pmAri worked reasonably hard to get free and provide run from behind and obviously it was a team instruction to get it to him so he can use his kicking as much as possible. Has a lot of talent, but it seems he is sometimes in two minds about a long kick and then sprays it over 30-40 metres. Maybe overthinks things and tries to go shorter at the last second? His torp in the last was a big one.silverhalo wrote: ↑Sun 28 Jul 2024 4:52pm Would love to see Ari come back in and a great game also from Hugo Garcia today - what a little terrier he is, an amazing 14 tackles today!
Also, Bassat was with Ross and co at the top of the stand watching the game.
I find myself wanting him to show me how far he can kick when he has the ball in hand, so just as well he knows that's not what his job is.

Re: Sandringham
Really, I find him a very reliable short kick.
He goes short with probably half of his kicks, and pinpoints them well

Re: Sandringham
My observation was more from watching him live yesterday, when he got the ball in the backline a few times he just seemed to change his mind at the last second and spray it 30-40 metres, just seemed like a bit of hesitation and the players around him were encouraging him to go longer.

Re: Sandringham
Which players go back to Sandy for Matteus and Marcus?
First guess: Stocker, Zac ?
Zac is going so well....almost spoilt for choice with all fit.

Re: Sandringham
Phillipou and Windhager are 3-4 weeks away
Schoenmaker went at 72.4% by foot on a cold windy wet day - ranked 6th for Sandy - and he often bites off difficult kicks

Re: Sandringham
Still don’t reckon Zac is going well. Always getting caught in a tackle in the centre. Not using his best asset which is speed and run and spends most of his time fallen over on the ground.

Least he's getting his hands on the ball in the centre, something we've been unable to do most of the year.66Iwasthere wrote: ↑Mon 29 Jul 2024 7:52pmStill don’t reckon Zac is going well. Pretty tough marker. He's had a very solid 3 weeks.

Re: Sandringham
Yes agree, Zac has been good. And our midfield had been pretty poor prior to his return. So he has been part of why we have improved.

I agree with that. Zac is pbly the biggest individual difference of the last few weeks… went from absolute zero to hero.

Re: Sandringham
Having multiple options has meant we're mixing it up. First it was Seb Ross, Hill and Henry and then it's been Mattaes and now it's Zac.
Zac also offers speed and zip around stoppages. I don't think opposition worry too much when he gets ball in hand, but his kicking and decision making have been really good.
I wouldn't say it's been Zac Jones who's turned around the fortunes of our midfield.
We're not just relying on Clark Steele and Sincs anymore. We had Stocker in at stoppages and also Owens has been getting up the ground.
I think the changes have meant that opposition teams aren't sure of what we're doing.
Having these other guys winning clearances along with Marshall means the workload is shared
