Trajectory???
Last year 7th 13w
This year 14th 8w
You do the math
Good win, playing very well for the last 5 weeks
Too little too late
Fanboy - please. What are you, 13?!
Best thing about this season will be pick 5&6

You guys are a miserable bunch - 16 pages in a loss - 4 for a win

And across those 4 pages there is still negative comment
The pleasing thing today was one of our mids hitting the scoreboard
I also note the form of Jones over the past 2 weeks, a player one contributor told us had had his papers marked by the Senior Coach
There has never been any doubt that Jones’ best is good enough

My theory on this is that there would’ve been a lot more of the forum at the game than usual; hence not posting on here. Was really impressed with saints turn out, felt we out numbered them in the crowd.Sainter_Dad wrote: ↑Sat 27 Jul 2024 8:56pm You guys are a miserable bunch - 16 pages in a loss - 4 for a win

Re: Match Thread Saints v Bombers Round 20 2024
Lots to like.
Midfields ability to win the footy has been greatly impacted by the return of H Clark. Yes he can turn it over but a genuine clearance mid in a side that lacks them.
Jones- I personally wouldn't have given another chance, great form the past fortnight and importantly is playing within his capabilities. Would probably give a 1 yr extension.
Sharman, Owens, Hammer, Membrey- operating as a genuine forward unit, working for each other and celebrating each other. Genuinely dangerous. Hopefully King after a full preseason has the tank to join the workrate (and likely replace membrey)
Steele, Marshall, Sinclair, Wilkie, Milera- genuine A Graders.
No passengers.

Jones is a fascinating one. Was one of my fav 3 years ago and I’ve absolutely loathed his contribution this uear and was quite happy to push him out the door at seasons end until the last 3 weeks.

Great win today. Any time we can beat those Bummers is a great time. Wooo Hooo!!!

For a hard core rationalist you don't seem to appreciate the impact of injuries, lack of continuity and how player development takes time; and maybe not be so selective on the "trajectory period" you have chosen.
Yr1, 2023 wasn't a benchmark for anyone but yourself.
Umpiring can impact close games too and hence ladder possie.
% now over 100. Nice, eh? Soon be better than the team formerly known as the Pies( now known as the NDaicos Pies).
And after a win like today's most of us feel like kids again. Nothing wrong with being 13 (other than looming puberty and acne, I guess, but none of us have to be concerned with those matters - maybe vortex).
Anyway, grinch on - I'm ecstatic and reckon Ross can coach, so there.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Bombers Round 20 2024
What an amazing game!
The things I loved:
(1) Super Cooper living rent free in the Essendons back talls head all week. Amazing game! He is a player! He iced the Frankston game in the VFL and then did this! Took more marks at one point than the whole Essendon team.
(2) 3 Goals from the Skipper
(3) NWM was elite.
(4) Stocker in the middle was a good power move by RTB with no Windy
(5) Darcy Wilson doesn’t deserved to be dropped. Just when I start to agree with some on here he needs a spell in the 2s he just pops up and does some great football 1%s that is above what a first year should be doing. He deserves to stay in the team all year and piss off to the naysayers I say.
(6) the whipping boys played well. Byrnes was good. Zak Jones was decent, Bonner didn’t turn it over. Howard wasn’t a gumboot!
(7) Wilkie for All Australian. Bloke doesn’t lose 1 on 1s.
(8) Hammer is reliable. He’s played 30 games and has kicked 32 goals after today. He’s good for a goal a game. Kid is building into a player.
(9) Higgins plays for the jumper. I love how he fires the boys up in his quirky way but doesn’t show off like a Ginnivan and posing for ponce snaps.
(10) We spoilt the chances for the druggies to make finals for a 12th year in a row. I hate that team with a passion. All they have is mercenaries and have so many good players and don’t play for each other. Deserve all the s*** they have. Hate Dorodorro and hate the Scott boys for whacking old Rooey. Stuff them all.

Always been a fan of this guy he just puts his body on the line every time, he is one tough hard little bastard. I just love watching him go about it always have done. my only concern is how long can we keep him on the field.
And again I just like to say I am so glad that the coach keeps playing Wilson wow this kid is going to be something , for those that have called him for a rest. Well. It’s a footy forum
Luckily for The Club some on here don’t run it

I know the players elect the captain, but wouldn't it be great if RoMa got a chance to captain the club for a year.
Wilkie might get the gig as he's Vice-Captain anyway

Brad Hill.
Do you reckon he'll get a coaches vote from Ross for all his ... running, corralling and pressure acts?

As predicted:
McKay
Duursma
Gresham
would inject some short-term success into the Bombers, but it was always going to be short-lived.

The defence has been back to its miserable best over the past month, ranked number 1 in the comp. Our forward line seems to be sorted out for the time being, at least (47 goals in our three most recent wins). Now to fix up that pesky midfield that everyone thinks is way worse than it really is.
Let those who are still complaining and critical, we still have to find places for Max King, Liam Henry, Windy, Pou, and Hugo, who didn't even get a run today. Even more cause for enthusiasm. Cop that, doubters!

It was a bad day for our resident "seers" on here today, although I noted our resident, self-appointed "oracle" has still managed a drive-by or two.The Fireman wrote: ↑Sat 27 Jul 2024 8:17pm Super cooper
A big ouch for one particular pseudo football seer on here
And love seeing Wilson not being rested as advised by another seer

Re: Match Thread Saints v Bombers Round 20 2024
It really is amazing to see a mob like the Injectors look so dejected.
The kick from Redman straight to Cooper, and his look of defeat afterwards, when he wanted to dig a hole and disappear.
The free to Steele for HTB right in front of goal, and the Injectors had no push n shove as you'd expect, no arguing with ump.
The Saints broke this mob.
And one fan chucking his scarf away in disgust after one mark near goal.
Their mob has 16 flags or whatever, but hey our guys handed their a*** to em on a plate

I'm wondering how many Mercs and BMWs with injector stickers left the car park before 3/4 time.
All of their coterie would've left with rage in their eyes.
They can all suck
They got beaten by a 'rabble' with a boring low-scoring game plan
