His mistake was trying to give it to Bonner, who allowed his opponent to run past him and take the ball

We need to recruit a new forward line if our current forwards are spectators.
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Went back to playing dumb footy, weren’t prepared to put their head over the ball and got caught hanging out for cheap kicks.

That’s the knock on Wilson, his decision making can be terrible at times.

A hard slog but we dropped off a bit in the second half of that second qtr. Need to get going again.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Is Steele still on the ground? I haven’t noticed him for about 10-15 minutes. He’s not at any ball ups - has he gone off injured ? I did notice the doctor late in the first quarter run out toward one of our players, but camera panned on so couldn’t pick up who it was?

Re: Match Thread Saints v Crows Round 18 2024
Owens is running in concrete and can’t get a kick - lost all confidence
Membrey is slow with the ball and can’t get separation now
Butler is ordinary- doesn’t do the basics and tries to be cute
Higgins is an opportunist- hot and cold

It's often hard watching those two but important for them to get the experience, they are not Robinson Crusoe though.

Every St Kilda player of the 22 that have been on the ground have laid a tackle except for Sinclair and Tim Membrey
Phillipou 6 tackles. Steele 5 tackles (yes loris ...he is out there ). Sharman and Owens 4 each

Mitch Owens needs to find some form.
One possession to half time and metres gained -2.

No wonder Membrey and Higgins and Owens can't get their hands on it. We're not going forward
22 inside 50's in the first half for us. We are holding back. Trying to control the footy instead of taking territory.
In the wet we should be moving it forward with chaos balls inside 50

Wilson gets a pass but he does cost on missed handballs at times that’ll improve though with a few seasons

I think with the Pou experience, Michito back to the Magoos is a very good idea.

Scollop I saw Steele a lot in the first quarter, then early in the second, he was playing well - I think the conditions suit him- then I realized I hadn’t seen him later in the second quarter - they aren’t showing the bench in telly, so can’t see if he’s just having a rest on the pine & couldn’t get back on.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Crows Round 18 2024
If we lose this game Pick 4 is back in play, i prefer winning games of football rather than an improved draft position. The saints haven't played very well since the 1st quarter. Still, only 7 points in it, which might be a lot in a wet game.
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Butler couldn't find a forward to kick to so he kicked it out on the full.
