Re: Team v Crows
Brad Hill out for birth of second child.
Bonner had to come back, I suppose.
Plays a role for RTB

Re: Team v Crows
Thank goodness, I wondered why Hill pulled out of contests and lacked spatial awareness.
It seems that his mind was on other things!
Absolute last chance for Jones, but I think his cards have been played already.

Really shithouse ‘ins’.
At the very least - Hugo for Windy.
Bonner’s really not worth commenting on but fkn Jones though - I just don’t get the point of that.

Re: Team v Crows
The coaching group and all the team have improved as a collective
The performance against Sydney was our team improvement on display and not because King or Bonner weren't playing.
I think the scapegoating of a single player is unjustified. It's wrong to blame losses on 1 or 2 individuals
He's been playing better than Brad this year in my opinion.
If you check player ratings for Hill vs Bonner their stats are quite similar

Tend to agree with most… disappointed with the selections. I’m not as down on Bonner as most, but he’s hardly a walk-in inclusion for me. Paton and Jones to me should be on the way out. I’d have been happier with Hugo and Stocker

Re: Team v Crows
They play different positions
Bonner plays HB and Hill plays wing/hhf
If I were to be reincarnated- I’d want it to be as an AFL half back

Re: Team v Crows
Jones was an Emergency last week, along with Hall and Campbell
And, from the write up of the AFL Coach, he performed well for Sandringham last weekend (again)
He brings pace and aggression noting that his best is definitely good enough
Bonner has been selected for every game until last weekend when he was a late withdrawal with injury
Lyon has said we pick a side to win each and every week
Hill will be badly missed both offensively and defensively - he is a highly skilled player and central to the team performance
And I agree that it is team performance which delivers results
Adelaide Oval has narrow wings plus numbers among one of the longer grounds so there will be some adjustments from playing at Docklands

Re: Team v Crows
Sometimes when clubs are out of finals contention they select players to either discharge contract obligations that work in the interests of the club and/or are fattening the player up for market.
Do we have any players in that category at the moment, I’m thinking specifically does Zac have a future beyond this season at another club? Or is he cooked?
Or is it just a case of being forced to play Zac because Windy has gone out and we just don’t have any of the younger players ready for AFL yet and Ross is picking teams to win?

I didn’t think Ross liked farewell games.

Re: Team v Crows
I guess it is a bit of a like for like type with Hill and Jones , as outside runners
Bonner is the Zac Dawson of this RL generation.
Champion data says he is above average in most areas ( including tackles which is amazing) . It should be noted kicks over 40 m do not rate as turnovers when they go to the opposition so makes the stats a little better than reality.
Can say Garcia is stiff but perhaps he isn't doing yet what is needed at AFL level and needs to "work on his craft" in the 2s like Pou?
or perhaps the inclusions shows he is tanking ...hahahaha

You've taken a lot from a short comment. I never mentioned King.Scollop wrote: ↑Thu 11 Jul 2024 8:02pmThe coaching group and all the team have improved as a collective

I'm all for stats, but they can't always be trusted. To suggest Hill and Bonner are on par as footballers is laughable.
I know who Adelaide would rather be playing against.
