I didn’t end up going to today’s game and had to endure Brian Taylor’s awful call on TV. Was it just me, or did it sound like he was barracking for Sydney the whole day?

Regardless, imo, he is just the absolute pits. How the hell did he ever get to be a leading play-by-play announcer? If you agree that the televised would be far better without him, then sign this petition:

Some of the radio stations have big issues tho, no idea what’s happening.

The fact that Taylor is apparently 7’s premier commentator is an indictment on many things.

Anyway, it would be most unsurprising if he has a Sydney bias - his nephew does play for them.

I watched some of the Brisbane vs Adelaide match on replay earlier tonight. Duane Russell from Fox Footy talks a lot of rubbish instead of calling out the players names.

Adelaide have turned over their list quite a bit in the last few years and there's quite a few jumper numbers I didn't recognise.

All Duane wanted to do was call out the names of the stars from both sides and when it came to an Adelaide lesser light, he didn't bother saying who it was. Incompetent prick

A lazy feature of a lot of the commentary is the smug dismissive way they right off lower teams chances and call games, at least early, as if the favoured side is clearly going to win (ho hum) and their name players are gods gift to the game and the lower side is facing existential issues. No providing any serious analysis of the efforts of the "lesser side".
Looking back at some of the pre game smugness after an "upset" highlights the lack of balance and real knowledge; case in point Dixon who spent more time critiquing his hair style than giving the Saints any chance in one segment. And Wilkie out bodying and out marking Heeney at the death was fantastic. Commentators reaction: surprise, who would have thought.

I was at the game and have only seen the match highlights fairly recently. I must confess that although not his biggest fan (FAR from it!) I have to say that the commentary was not as bad as I'd originally feared (after reading the OP from Sainternist) I thought it was a wee bit "matey" and silly at times, but in general, I've heard FAR worse commentary on SEN and 3LO. Each to their own I guess? I certainly wouldn't be signing any petition that could result in someone losing their employment ...... Not while I have the "mute" button
