It's a worry we play better without Max.

We would've lost if he were in.
I could see us trying to get it to him each time, and have it rebound with interest.
Too predictable. We look for him, Rampe and McCartin double team him, and get it to Blakey or someone who sweeps it back through the middle.

We haven't learned forward tactics while he's there.
It's like 'give it to Max' and there's really no plan b when it fails.

Today, Henry, Wood, Skunk, Butler, Higgo- they were all viable options and provided an even spread.
Not one-dimensional.
And Swans couldn't really set-up predictably

This has been an issue since early last year where we looked so much more dangerous u forward with a combination of:

Butler, Cordy, Higgins
Phillipou, Caminati, Gresh/Wood/Owens

The fact that we structure better without King to me, is a real indictment of what a heaping mess our forward line and delivery system forward really is.

The first thing that stands out is that with no Kings… mids lower their eyes and look for leading forwards. Hard to u/s why they don’t do that when he’s there.
A second issue is that he doesn’t lead or push up the ground enough and I don’t get why.

Whatever the problem is… I refuse to accept that a huge forward that has great reach and is difficult to stop on the lead is anything short of a hugely exploitable asset.

There is a huge problem there however and the coaches need to figure it out

Use a big sample size, we have won games with King in the side

I would therefore suggest he is restricted to “home duties”, sitting on the couch

King is a first choice selection in the St Kilda team

Simply, with the likes of King, Wanganeen-Milera, Owens, Caminiti, Phillipou, Windhager, Henry, Wilson, Schoenmaker we are a developing side, that youth supporting the likes of Marshall, Sinclair, Wilkie, Hill, Howard, Battle, Steele, Wood, Higgins, Butler with his work rate

Then you have others who contribute starting with Byrnes and those who are injured starting with Crouch

It may be that Ross and Stocker have had their chance

I’m not channeling Einstein here when I say that it has been a less than distinguished season for Max. My feeling is that if a bit of time away helps with his OVERALL recovery, then I’m in favour of it. I want to see this lad realise his full potential with US!
