Umpiring is corrupt and paid for
Deliberate out of bounds paid against the saints was laughable. Broke our run.
And from that corrupt decision swans pushed down, Heeney smashed Webster in the face and made Websters nose bleed . NO free kick against Heeney, Heeney kicks the goal.
This kind of blatant corruption is not good enough. Match fixing at its worst.

Re: Umpiring is corrupt and paid for
Don't agree with the op headline
Absolutely terrible decision making from the umpire who gave deliberate against Battle but it's incompetence rather than corruption
The hit to Webster wasn't in the umpires vision...BUT... everyone including the MRO will have seen it on replay.
Heeney should cop 1 week but I wouldn't be surprised if they get him off. The commentators told us it was 'accidental' and Brian Taylor said Heeney was apologetic straight away. Wow wee stiff s*** Brian!!
If Heeney was a St Kilda player he'd be suspended for 2 weeks minimum

Wait til you find out there’s not such thing as a “deliberate out of bounds” rule

As I said in another tread, WTF. We win most of the important stats but lose the free kick count 11 to 19.ralphsmith wrote: ↑Sun 07 Jul 2024 6:17pm Deliberate out of bounds paid against the saints was laughable. Broke our run.

Seems the AFL will go out of their way to support the northern teams. We don't count for jack s***.

Re: Umpiring is corrupt and paid for
As i said in a previous thread …. There’s nothing to say frees should be equal for both sides ….and remember players make mistakes as well as umpires …. Hill shouldn’t have played on free against us hill caught in the boundary line another free ….not having a go at hill but theres a couple of frees that shouldn’t have happened

Re: Umpiring is corrupt and paid for
Umpire managed to spot an infringement when Shoemaker kicked that goal.
They then missed a blatant high free in full view of the entire ground when Heeney hit Webster to goal.
The free against Battle is just a pisstake and biased

Yep Wood eventually tapped the Sydney players leg after being given multiple opportunities to disproof it.

Fact is the umpire paid a free then apparently couldn’t see Heeney belt Webster.

Re: Umpiring is corrupt and paid for
If a saints player had belted a swans player in the face and made them bleed they would have received a free kick and the commentators would have been crying afoul.
Teams like the swans can climb the ladder and keep winning due to constant favourable umpiring decisions.
Umps tried their best today!

Re: Umpiring is corrupt and paid for
Will be keeping a close eye on what happens with Heeney after he tried to break Jimmy Webster’s nose.
Deserves a couple of weeks for that.
I’m certain Webster would get at least a couple for an equivalent action.
It’s a good test of the AFL’s integrity … or lack of it.
Will they make an exception for him because he’s Brownlow favourite and a special player? And it’s only St Kilda and that mongrel Jimmy Webster etc etc

There's 4 field umpires there. All they saw was their sweetheart Heeney man - not what he did to Webster's face. Incompetence as f***, at the least.Scollop wrote: ↑Sun 07 Jul 2024 6:32pm Don't agree with the op headline

If Heeney was a St Kilda player he'd be suspended for 2 weeks minimum

Whacked a bloke behind play. Two weeks at least, probably more if they want to protect the head. A very unseemly incident.Jacks Back wrote: ↑Sun 07 Jul 2024 7:52pmThere's 4 field umpires there. I totally agree, however we know how the system works. It's rigged.bigcarl wrote: ↑Sun 07 Jul 2024 7:53pmWhacked a bloke behind play. Brian Taylor and most other mouthpieces said Heeney didn't mean it. It's not in his nature. 'That's not the way he normally plays'.
That's all the subtle...and NOT SO SUBTLE...way that blokes with the means to influence decision makers will try and clear the top players in the game.

Re: Umpiring is corrupt and paid for
Higgins goal was NOT touched
Howard DID touch the ball before it was clearly over the line - and they ALWAYS review goals
Woods was a 50/50 as to a trip - I lean more toward the possibility it was a trip - but only evident in slow motion.

Like he would know what Heeney was doing or thinking.
He is a terrible commentator and the worst in the industry and that’s saying a lot.

His number one job is to call the play. Gets the numbers and names wrong at least 3-4 times per quarter.SaintPav wrote: ↑Sun 07 Jul 2024 8:25pmI noticed BT’s comment immediately.Scollop wrote: ↑Sun 07 Jul 2024 6:32pm Don't agree with the op headline

He's fkn hopeless. Getting too old to see the play if it isn't directly in front of the commentary box.
Not to mention... totally biased when Richmond or Collingwood are playing

Viewing the game summary on the AFL Website, the AFL are spitting chips over their whipping side beating one of their favoured sides

We won the game despite any umpiring indiscretions
This is the way I like it. This is the way we should be. Let’s win these games despite the umpires.

Re: Umpiring is corrupt and paid for
Here's the thing though. The umpiring didn't decide the match. It hardly ever does
Only guys like CURLY try and turn every loss into an excuse to blame umpires.
There's no point wallowing in self pity and whinging over every incorrect decision.
We didn't need the umpires to win the game. We needed to play to kick goals. We were behind again and we played an attacking, exciting brand. That should be the standard. It's the reason Hawthorn has been so good recently.
