What I have learned

Post: # 2069051Post The Fireman »

The main thing I have learned is that we have a lot of wankers on this forum

Firstly always thought Byrnes was a player after watching today’s game. I could only think of all those on here who have been bagging him.
Secondly, all those that have been bagging the coach for his game plan. You can stick that up your arse right now.
Thirdly those on here who have been saying that the players don’t want to be there aren’t playing for each other blah blah blah all I could see was a close group tonight that enjoyed every goal got together and played like a complete unit so to all these wankers go and get stuffed go and follow another side

Believe me, I am lapping this up and enjoying it so so much but just had to point out that there’s some wankers on here that wallow in negativity and self pity well you can all get stuffed

Go Saints and go RTB

You forgot Phillipou is a bust or has been destroyed by Rossy.

Time to convene a meeting of the RLFC (Ross Lyon Fan Club).

I will say this on Byrnes… you see performances like today and to a degree it justifies the criticism. This was easily Ryan’s best game since rd1 last year (where he crushed it) with the major knock being his ability to get the ball. 10-14 possession games isn’t going to cut it.

22 touches today, worked hard as always but just more effective.

Even Byrnes’ harshest critics (I’d be up there though I like him) can’t knock his dedication and work rate… but his output needs to go up a gear to more consistently match this performance.

Nonetheless… take a bow son, really deserves the high praise today

Like Phillipou, hopefully this isn’t a flash in the pan

I guess I just saw the potential in him and couldn’t understand the criticism that’s all
Like what RTB saw in pou

I will put my hand up as one bagging Byrnes

Very good today and he has shown in the past he is up to standard but ..... it is only 1 game .... if he is true to form then his next 2 games are likely to be terrible

Hoping that he has turned the corner ...... have to wait and see I guess

In the meantime .... well done Ronnie

Byrnes runs his arse off.
Works hard like Clint Jones used to do.
But there were things he didn't execute, whether poor judgement on where and when to go, or similar, that made the coaches send him to Zebs to work on stuff.

I think Ross said Zebs is the Saint's nursery and it's where our guys learn the Saints' way. Primary purpose.
Byrnes and Pou went back, learned, and returned.
And they're better for it.

Byrnes could be our Steele Sidebottom or similar.
We'd love for him to be a 200-gamer or more, he just needs to be consistent and productive.
He belongs. He needs to make the most of himself

Beautifully articulated.

I’ll be honest… I had lost a bit of faith in him and thought he was destined for the scrap heap. One really can’t understate a performance like this against the unbeatables

I really hope this is the turning point

Just finds it impossible to get off the bash/nitpick bandwagon. Awkward with wins like today's. Nevermind, there will be losses in the future to pontificate about.

Really. I’ve been attacking the negativity all season mate.
Or haven’t you noticed?

I started this thread because of the piss weak negativity. Another one with a guilty conscience.?

Haven't you had a chance to watch the game yet?
By the way the doomsday narrative you boost was always crap.

Firey

We are 6-10 and 14th

And you’re beating your chest

As Ross would say
Never as good as it seems and never as bad

What on earth would I be feeling guilty about? StK winning?

We actually stole that game
They had 13 more i50s
8 more scoring shots

Great resilience to come back, great efficiency, great win
But
Don’t be fooled - unless you’re a fool

We scored 47 points today from footy generated in the forward half (forward half intercepts and forward half stoppages). That's our highest number for the year

Prior to this round we were the worst team in the AFL for scoring from forward half intercepts or from forward half stoppages.

Today, it seemed to click. Henry and especially Phillipou played a big role (10 score involvements-plus 2 direct Goal Assists). Ronnie Byrnes was important and Steele and Sinclair were very good as usual

We were a little down today on our scoring from the back half. We are usually very good with our ball movement from the back half and our scoring from defensive half intercepts.
