Same Rumour Ron who said he was leaving week before he signed a new deal?SaintWiki wrote: ↑Tue 02 Jul 2024 3:01pm SEN via 'Rumour Ron' on Dwayne's World (Duane Russell) - Although Phillipou is under contract he is going back to Adelaide this year. He said that Saints want top pick for him.
Hope I haven't upset too many people dropping stuff on here that was found floating around in the gutter.
Get off it Ron you’ll go blind…

Re: Phillipou
He has just signed a new deal so I find it hard to believe this is true.
However, if it is we should be saying top 5 pick minimum or top 10 with a second round pick as well.
We don't need to trade him so we should be asking for well over the odds.

Re: Phillipou
I don't believe BS radio gossip and I'd prefer to keep our young talent, but hypothetically if he wants out to Adelaide they can give us their first pick #5 and maybe a sweetener with an upgrade added to a later pick.
Would rather keep Battle & Phillipou, but would not be upset if we have #4, get #5 for Battle & #6 for Phillipou.
Take #4, #5 & #6 to the draft and hope it is not 2017 revisited and we pick up 3 good young midfielders.
If we are having a clean out, who else is tradable and has value?
Untouchable???
Marshall, Sinclair, NWM, King, Wilkie, Steele
Young with potential
Henry, Wilson, Windhager, Owens
Too old to have market value
Hill, Wood, Crouch
Tradable with some value?
Howard, Clark - 2nd round picks?
Steele - Is he worth better than a 2nd round pick?
Sharman - 3rd round pick
Personally (just my opinion), I don't think outside of Battle & Phillipou there is much we would let go that has real market value.

Re: Phillipou
How do we know if he doesn't get a go.
plus all he can is play well at sandy, and don't just give him 1 game and if he doesn't play great that's it got give the young players at least 2-3 games give them confidence.

Re: Phillipou
Pou got a nice write-up by Jake Batchelor after the Zebs vs Geelong.
Got a lot of ball, needs to change his handball to kick ratio apparently.
Will he play vs Swans?
King out, Caminiti out...
Skunk had 20 touches for one goal, I wonder if he gets in due to the 2 outs

Re: Phillipou
Trade Philipou?
Seriously. We wouldn't get 4th rounder based on his last half dozen games.
Saints need to work out a strategy to move up the ladder. A basket case of inability to develop young players. Throw the kitchen sink at free agents. Is not going to work.
Meanwhile.. Gresham staring with essendon. Akers touted recruit of the year.

As is the thought we'd get nothing better than a 4th round pick.
Would easily get a top 10 pick.

Re: Phillipou
Of course we would get better than a 4th - with our history of developing players the Manangatang Under 10's coach would believe they could get better out of our players than we can.nostalgicsaint wrote: ↑Sat 06 Jul 2024 9:48amTrading Pou would be crazy.repta wrote: ↑Sat 06 Jul 2024 12:14am Trade Philipou?

Only checked the stats at half time but had a K:H ratio of 10:1, which was always my biggest knock on him.
The time in VFL has given him some confidence.

Re: Phillipou
We’ve been calling for him to have a run in the 2s since halfway thru last year to help him find form and confidence again, and see the result!
He needs to play with that confidence!

Re: Phillipou
He was good all day, but when the game was there to be won in the Final quarter, he went up a level. As I've said many times, the kid will be a star. His kick to Henry (resulting in a goal) in the third quarter was genius. He's going to be a gamebreaker.

Re: Phillipou
Plenty of vision on what didn't work for him, and now has some good vision to go with it.
Expect a tag (or at least some attention) next week.

Re: Phillipou
I don't think he is any bigger in a few weeks, just playing on smaller mids rather than bigger backs.
