King taking time away

Post: # 2068687Post WellardSaint »

King's been granted leave during his rehab.

Ross says he needs to get his head right.

So the DFC can't help him?
And why can't he just use the pool and gym to get stronger and keep muscle tone?
What the...

generally when you have close relationships with people at a club you want to be around the club no matter what, even when you are injured.

Since Max first hurt his knee the kid has looked a shell of himself, if Im honest he hasnt loooked happy all year. The expectations of the club to play through injury and the media piling on him perhaps has been too much? Im not a psychologist but it wouldnt surprise me to later hear that he is dealing with depression.

I think the continued injuries have emotionally worn him down the same as they did Jack Steele last year. He just looks so down cast when playing he needs to get his thinking right and start enjoying the game again. The time away for the club and to get the help he needs, will hopefully be the perfect panacea to get himself back to 100% mentally and physically.

When you are physically injured sure. If he needs to get his head right then getting out of the environment is going to be a helpful break.

Given the insane pressure being put on him by the football media at large and supporters only capable of remembering the last few weeks at a time, I don't blame him for wanting to get out of the bubble and get his head right.

Study.
Immobilised knee. Bruised body.
Freezing cold.
Will have a rehab program.
Sounds sensible.

What if some things are not part of conspiratorial plottings or doomsday omens. Acknowledging of course most uncontrollable bad luck happenings are signs of woe and someone needs to be blamed.

He can attend club's gym when other guys have a day off so he won't be reminded.

Knee is far away from upper body so he can work shoulders, torso, core, etc.
Swimming with knee fully strapped can help cardio fitness.

Did I miss anything 🤣

Your marquee type players are always looked after and always allowed to head off on holiday if injured during the cold winter months in Melbourne

It's nothing new and it's important to refresh the mind as well as the body

Whether Max King deserves the status of a marquee player or deserves the status of one of our top players is another discussion altogether

This is patently incorrect. He has played in all 5 of our wins this year and missed our worst rodgering by the doggies.
We are a better team with Max than without him and the win/loss record supports this.

Yes, someone tells me we've won with him this year.
Last year when he was out for several games, we won a lot. Bombers, Dogs, etc.
So overall, in the last few years, i think we've won a lot without him

What would Gold Coast give to make that permanent.
They don't need Noah Anderson do they.

THIS 👍👍👍

We would've lost if he were in.
I could see us trying to get it to him each time, and have it rebound with interest.
Too predictable. We look for him, Rampe and McCartin double team him, and get it to Blakey or someone who sweeps it back through the middle.

We haven't learned forward tactics while he's there.
It's like 'give it to Max' and there's really no plan b when it fails.

Today, Henry, Wood, Skunk, Butler, Higgo- they were all viable options and provided an even spread.
Not one-dimensional.
And Swans couldn't really set-up predictably
