The morons complaining about him playing from behind should take note of the last two contests he had.
You need to get to a game from time to time Curly and stop basing opinion on what you see on the Telly.

At least get the nurses to wheel you closer to the screen and turn the volume up.

I have watched him closely over the last two matches (Brisbane & PA).

How many times he allowed Payne and Dork - Hatcher to take front position without contest is astounding.

I wouldn’t trade him, but there is a deep issue there as he appears bereft of confidence and is not consistently imposing himself physically at the contest.
Gday Buzzard nice to see you allowed to mix with humans.

The last two contests he was in front and had grass in front of him . We sat the ball in his head meaning miss defenders would out point a forward.

It's not just Max King, though ... our young players stagnating and not developing, that's our main problem.

We have no system ... we don't link up, we're not playing/gelling like a team.

We're locked into a negative, reactive mindset and game style.

Owens, Phillipou, Windhager, King have stagnated and/or gone backwards.

Do a footywire comparison of these players- their stats this year vs their stats last year, and you'll see that what I'm saying and what Cornes is pointing out ... that is in fact true.

These players are not only stagnating, most have actually gone backwards.

Seems silly thread on several levels.
One might be: we have a 202cm pick 4, who can kick 60m easily, a match winner with half decent delivery but we think he is rubbish for all that and will take any offer. Of course if we don't get an offer we still expect Max to be committed to us that want to cast him out.
Whole proposition to sell Max is nonsense.

David King had us improving this year based on our finish last year and the assumption that our youngsters were going to improve/develop further ... but it hasn't eventuated.

Are we going to blame all our youngsters for that?

Well just as well St Kilda is going backwards as some describe

Because if they were not going backwards at a rate of knots then, instead of losing by very narrow margins (except for one game) St Kilda would be winning every game by 20 plus goals and there would be no competition

3 goals wins would be enough, ... no-one is expecting a rate of knot improvement. And expecting a year by year development (vs a stagnation) of our young players is not an unreasonable expectation.

King is still a good young forward, his problem is being left to do it alone. The other marking targets in our forward line are a tall mid and a couple of 30 and 40 gamers.

He kicked 3 goals 2 weeks ago and is still tracking well statistically for his age. He needs support, not to be thrown out

Max gets double teamed, blocked and scragged most of the game and our delivery is rubbish. Umpires don't protect him like a Weightman perhaps because he is so big. We need another strong forward or to take advantage of the double teaming. Maybe when Dougal comes back Hammer can go forward again. Opposition key defenders are very big athletic men, being in a constant wrestle or jog can be quite energy sapping. It why the opposition do it. We need better ball users but goodness knows where they are, even Battle kicked 30 meters away from Max towards the boundary line to the advantage of his markers. What's he supposed to do with that. Another kick when he got clear and led was yorker length.

Get something for him while we still can.
Yes, let’s trade Max. With a bit of luck he will develop and improve to his former self under a decent coach. Remember his 5-goal haul at one stage many moons ago. Then again, Max himself might want to be traded!

He's in a slump and probably a bit sick of the delivery he gets. It's a bit of a barometer to our form...A bit more of midfields lowering eyes and not bombing it in won't hurt... Keep him!

Are you brain dead??
Is talent progression linear only in your world ? I mean really how dumb
We played finals last year so now all these players are shyte
Honestly stop getting your opinions from the Herald Sun
IF you’re interested in where we have gone backwards don’t look at kids….look at your Jack Steeles, Seb Ross, Tim Membreys, Zac Jones ….look to our so-called “senior core” who’ve failed to step up this year
Then take major injuries to Crouch (our best mid last year) no pre season for Dow , Hunter Clark and Henry
Then ask yourself…..in amongst all of that….havecwe been blooding kids this year ? Do you think that it might just be a case of having to ask some of them to step up/fill the gap when perhaps they ain’t ready ???????
Then sit down somewhere nice n quiet and give yourself an uppercut.

Well, we saw a linear progression of our youngsters under Richo.

Ross, Steele, Roberton, Membrey, Battle, Bruce, Clark, Webster, etc...

Our current "development" department is a misnomer.

Playing youngsters does not constitute development.

I'm aware but if a player really wants out they go about 80% of the time.

I believe his issues can be resolved and be a good asset, but unlike some I have never seen greatness in him.

If we were seriously thinking of trading him, it means other clubs will try and use his injuries to try and downgrade his worth.

Looks like we're stuck with him

You are entitled to your moronic spamming of Cheating Umpires, AFL bias and Ryan Byrnes, but you think others should STFU about King?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and this injury may account for his performance against PA, but he has not been at his best this season, not just last round.

I’m not a player basher, be it King, or the young fringe players you slander like Byrnes or Paton, but each poster has their right to post their opinion.

Even halfwits who spam the forum week after week, year after year with their victim mentality and nonsensical injustice rants have the right to post.
