I don't think Howard is any threat of going, or that the club would be eager to get rid even if he was keen, at least without an immediate equivalent replacement. Battle they have no control over so planning for that happening makes sense

Re: Josh Battle
So that little turd coach of the dorks has had several phone conversations with Battle. I have never liked that creep, now my dislike has turned to hatred,

Re: Josh Battle
Always a solid player and would be a shame to lose Josh but if he can earn more in a team with a bit more upside than the floundering Saints can anybody blame him. Danger is that him leaving may only be the tip of the iceberg

Some posters on their hang off his every word. Maybe he's P66 with a new nick.
I recently read on BF posters suggesting P66 is on here with a new nick, The Dud
Maybe it was some of Dud's matchday thread protagonists taking the P155, or ?
All posters are equal, but some posters are more equal than others.

Re: Josh Battle
Id love to keep Battle but at the same time, if he wants to leave the club, his mates and a decent contract offer to go elsewhere he can get stuffed and leave. He'd only goto Hawks because they're paying the most.
We cant beg or overpay players to stay. and If he leaves i'll probably boo him a couple of times next year too.

Re: Josh Battle
If today's article on AFL website is correct it looks like he's gone but we get very good compo.
Be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out (no pun),

Re: Josh Battle
Love Josh Battle, he actually played with my son in school footy, but if compensation guarantees us a Band 1 compensation pick, then it's not all doom and gloom if he does leave.
Given our current ladder position where we we would get pick 5, this would give us pick 6 as well and we'd have to be happy with that!

Josh was really good mates with Jack Scrimshaw at Haileybury, wonder if that comes into calculations for him as well as the money obviously

What about the 20 or so mates at St Kilda. I wonder if that comes into calculations?silverhalo wrote: ↑Sat 29 Jun 2024 12:31pm Josh was really good mates with Jack Scrimshaw at Haileybury, wonder if that comes into calculations for him as well as the money obviously
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.
Re: Josh Battle
If Battle leaves we can’t grab Stengel as it will mean bye bye compo. So if we believe the stories that Stengel is considering the Saints, we got to keep Battle. If Stengel says no thanks, I guess we might be less upset he leaves if band 1 compo

Re: Josh Battle
What the 20 or so new mates he might make at his new job where he gets paid better? Most footy players will get the best pay of their lives in the system so hard to blame any of them trying to maximize thatmagnifisaint wrote: ↑Sat 29 Jun 2024 2:45pmWhat about the 20 or so mates at St Kilda. Re: Josh Battle
So speculate Hawks are offering about 50k a year more?
That's about 2.5k per mate.
Thinks: didn't really like them that much.
Coup for Ratts?

Re: Josh Battle
Long just helped the Gold Coast over the line against the Filth.
We would look a far better side with Long, Acres and Gresham playing for us instead of against us. We gave the three of them away for basically nothing. The president says we got Coulthard with the pick we got for Gresham after we refused to match the druggies offer.
Woopy chook....

Re: Josh Battle
He means replacing Howard at full back while Howard is injured and Cordy has been dropped.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Yeah, let’s let our second best defender walk.
A first round compo pick? We have such a great track record with first round picks of the last decade. We can nab the next Tom Lee
