14-2 FREE KICK count from half time has that effect.
OK, so why did the umpires cheat for us against Collingwood?

30/16 frees and the sealer kicked by Higgins was clear cheating by 3 umpires who were all in the vicinity watching Higgins kick the ball from out of bounds.

Why did they cheat for us in that match Curly?

Its odd that according to some on here we concede frees because we are sloppy and second to the ball blah bla blah

That game we got a great run and I doubt none of the three umpire will get finals games as a reesult.

A one word answer

Yes

Confirmed by the story re the former CEO and the reasons his return is being promoted

Competition with the NRL, where NSW and Queensland are the heartland of that competition

Fancy having a September absent an AFL side from NSW or Queensland

The media coverage would be exclusively NRL impacting AFL audience and promotion for AFL sponsors

The AFL and therefore umpires want close games. I do not understand trying to manufacture results - but to watch Jeremy Cameron have a shot at goal after the half time siren, the umpire call play on and the kick count is beyond me. The Umpire clearly calls play on - the kick has not happened - no confusion here - but the goal stands

Utter Bulltish!

I am now hoping Geelong win by 4 points!!!!

Have the AFL declared its hand??

@FreeKickCurnow ... was paid 3 or 4 absolutely soft free kicks tonight

Plus 2 of the softest 50s for a meter over the the mark ... both called out by the commentators as being on the softer side of soft

Shake yer head stuff

There’s a difference between all the channel 7 commentators saying the umpire called play on and the umpire actually calling play on.

The AFL want the following clubs to be successful

Collingwood
Essendon
Carlton
Richmond
West Coast
Adelaide

To lesser degree
Sydney
Hawthorn
Geelong

For different reasons
Gold Coast
GWS

A slight care factor about
Brisbane, Freo, Port, Melbourne
But not much

Absolutely don’t give a fk about
StK
Bulldogs
North

Don’t care about Norf that’s why they have been given all those charity draft concessions.

They don’t care if we are successful

We give them 9 games hence, tv rights

We don’t give them blockbuster crowds

I am sure that both hands were in the air prior to the ball being kicked - both hands in the air signals end of quarter/game does it not???

Kick was not resulted before the Umpire signaled end of quarter and pretty sure he did not hold both hands to his mouth calling all clear (we did this to indicate to the goal umpire our thoughts - one hand all clear - we thought it a point - two hands - goal)

Doesn’t that signal indicate the siren has gone? But kicks can be taken after the siren.

There’s a few examples here:

Collingwood - Elliott
Gold Coast - Anderson?
West Coast - McGovern

Not that it mattered!

Perhaps you are right - when I umpired - the quarter ended when the Umpire raised both hands in the air:

Matters nought in the end.

But I also did not see an all clear - perhaps it was lost on Channel 7

One feature that has been pushed front and centre for us though is the need to get good home crowds, at least. The club might do well to make that a priority as a lot of good things flow from good crowd support. Better fixtures, better player effort more fun for supporters. Not sure what can be done other than the obvious-winning, but for me the Marvel experience is dreary, transport time consuming and unpleasant, costs of food and drink ridiculous and there is a bit of a disconnect with the players. At the moment it's like the AFL & the Club wants to discourage attendance rather than vice versa.

So?
You can kick after the siren from a set shot.
He didn't play on, despite what the clown in the commentary box would have you think.

The only thing from that play that stood out to me is how terrible BT is a commentator. He is getting worse by the week.
