Rory Lobb
I think he is 31yo
Wants out, I’ve never rated him, inconsistent and a tease.
But really, he is exactly the type of player we need while Keeler develops
A 2.06m forward ruckman - would be a great foil for Ro and Max King - with Heath and Keeler as back up
Should have a minimum of 2 years left - with a trigger for a third

I don’t think we need more spuds from other teams

Re: Rory Lobb
Available before Wimbledon?
Past coaches have given him a serve and he does fault a lot.
Maybe just call a let on the idea.

Re: Rory Lobb
Personally, I think taking Rory Lobb would be great for St Kilda. It's going to solve 2 issues. Firstly, it'll help RoMa...and secondly it's going to help Max King.
At the moment we don't have anyone as experienced or as good as Lobb who can fulfil the role of a forward who is also handy as relief ruck.
This is what Leigh Matthews thinks we should do at St Kilda. I don't think Max King is fit enough to ruck, but perhaps we need to force him to play as second ruck, so that the message gets through. Get fit. Lift your work rate. Lift your intensity.

Re: Rory Lobb
Mental toughness?
Has all the attributes to be a forward/ruck and exactly what we need, but having them is one thing and using them to the teams advantage is another. Hasn’t earned the right to be paid big $’s.
A spud.

Sounds like another Dylan Shiel situation where the media try and tie us to another spud.

NO NO NO NO
The Kurt Tippett of this generation. Clubs infatuated with this 200cm athlete and the flashes of brilliance he shows every 5th week.
There is a reason he has more clubs than Tiger Woods.

Re: Rory Lobb
Apparently he is now equal 4th all-time (with Zac Dawson) for amount of games played without ever recording 20 or more disposals in a game...
Even Billy Longer managed 20 touches in a game...
Yeah nah...

Re: Rory Lobb
It’s not so much the ability he has, it’s the role he can play
Forward 75% Ruck 25% is such an obvious need
Is he better than Jack Hayes?
Would having 2 2m giants make our forward pressure too poor??

Re: Rory Lobb
I've changed my mind
Not worth it. We already have a player who can fulfil the role. At less than half of what Lobb wants
Caminiti's stats are similar and he's young and raw. Plenty of upside. The Hammer is a competitor.

Re: Rory Lobb
I liked Caminiti in defence as an intercept mark, but his kicking needs to improve a lot.
Lobb would be a good short term option until Keeler is ready to go, it certainly takes the pressure off both RoMa and King. I wish he was a little bit more physical though, we need someone who is going to crash packs, King certainly will never do it and oppo defenders have no fear standing in the hole

Re: Rory Lobb
It's interesting with Caminiti going to defence. It probably means he won't be the 2nd ruck option.
I reckon if Max King doesn't start crashing packs consistently and if he doesn't show Ross Lyon that he's the number 1 tall rooster in that forward line then Ross will be forced to play him as the 2nd ruck.
Leigh Matthews said that's a way of "force feeding" physical contact into his game.

Well, if our prior Coach had not been replaced he would be playing for St Kilda already

Re: Rory Lobb
Has to be trialled as a Ruck/Forward, I’ve spoke directly to Ross about it but he’s being stubborn.Scollop wrote: ↑Tue 18 Jun 2024 2:23pm It's interesting with Caminiti going to defence. It probably means he won't be the 2nd ruck option.
