We do. Just need to pay him what he wants.

If he wants to walk - he will
If you were choosing between 2 clubs right now
Which would you go to

Re: 3 veterans are done
Has good relationships at St Kilda apparently, so it appears he will only leave if we screw up the negotiations and try to low-ball him.
Would just be another massive f-up in a long list of horrible list management decisions by the club if he goes.

He won’t be low balled
He will get an offer as to what we believe he is worth
Probably 700k would be my guess, definitely my ceiling
You don’t overpay
Unless it’s a proven match winner

Don't overpay, unless its for the likes of Weitering or Stengle who we are both apparently throwing the chequebook at...

Re: 3 veterans are done
Interestingly enough… it’s reportedly suggested in the news (according to FB) that North are showing interest in Membrey and Ross to bolster their leadership/experience.

However neither are exactly Luke Hodge
If they had any real leadership qualities they could do the same at StKilda. If they are, it isn't showing.

Re: 3 veterans are done
The Weitering offer would be in his mind
- size of the offer
- value they place on his position.
- fact that the saints tried to pay massive overs to cover a perceived shortfall. A position that he fills.
That saints could let him go with an offer of say $700k then turn around and offer someone similar $1m to get them in.
Everyone knows there is a war chest......

Re: 3 veterans are done
The Weitering story is surely fake news. His contract goes until the end of 2025. He plays for a glamour club that has strong prospects of winning a flag in the next year or three. I reckon it was never anything more than a bit of pot-stirring on the part of Weitering's manager.

Re: 3 veterans are done
Which Brisbane Lions player was tagging Seb Ross tonight?
Don't answer...just being facetious
Really poor match committee selection for mine
They had Membrey out as managed. Sebby should have been as well

Re: 3 veterans are done
North only has to show some patience and they'll get both for free, as DFAs, or very cheaply as they are worth very little in terms of trade. You can throw Webster in to the package as well. Three list problems solved in one.
Would they take Jones as well? He showed on Saturday night that he is definitely a VFL player. Really disappointing at the senior level, once again. Hastie and Garcia are surely worthy replacements for him.

Re: 3 veterans are done
Hard to argue!
All 3 look done, especially Membrey.
Saints turn over 7-9 players per season over the past 4-5 years.
While these guys look done, I guess it gets down to who they want to move on and who they can pick up in trading and drafting.
Certainties to go (IMO)
- Allison
- Jones
- Membrey
Maybe?
- Byrnes
- Paton
- Van Es
- Hotton
Veterans?
- Campbell
- Ross
- Webster
Crouch - injury?
Hard to tell with younger guys how the club views their development.

Lyon now needs to put a line under Jones and play Garcia or Hastie for remainder of year.Nick DalSanto Claus wrote: ↑Mon 17 Jun 2024 3:46amNorth only has to show some patience and they'll get both for free, as DFAs, or very cheaply as they are worth very little in terms of trade. With 9 games left in the season pointless playing him any more.
