Perth-Home-Brisbane
What a horrendous fixture and one designed to limit the output of a team.

Re: Perth-Home-Brisbane
I was having a look at the draw to this stage of the season including this weekends game. We will have been interstate six times plus a trip to Geelong. Collingwood and Carlton three trips interstate and no Geelong trip. I know our draw is better in the last part of the season but the concentration of travel is a bit skewed I think .

Massive leg up for the two clubs you named. Collingwood play Hawthorn at Tassie do they win?1971 wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2024 12:55pm I was having a look at the draw to this stage of the season including this weekends game. Wrong - Collingwood has 5 and Carlton 6 interstate trips.CURLY wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2024 1:01pmMassive leg up for the two clubs you named. To not have to play in Tassie and Geelong ever is a huge advantage.

Oh my god, does the whinging and sooking and excuse making ever stop?! It's deranged!
Last I checked interstate teams travel every second week, and they haven't had much trouble wining a number of premierships the last 35 years!

Re: Perth-Home-Brisbane
It is not that sides based outside Melbourne travel every second week because that is their brief - including playing a Grand Final in Melbourne
It is the equality of the draw between Melbourne based Clubs including game times
Imagine the outcry if Collingwood had has our draw this season - and not only this season but every season
The competition is in no way equal in any regard

Re: Perth-Home-Brisbane
And just to add
Much of what we do in life is habit
This includes going to the footy - so if you are restricted from going because the draw delivers what has been delivered this season you start to lose interest and a habit is no longer a habit
And you start doing something else
The crowd v GC was poor - about 17,000

Re: Perth-Home-Brisbane
Agreed. Look at the Melbourne v Collingwood game. Collingwood played on the Thursday in Melbourne. Melbourne played in Darwin in the heat on the Sunday.Killa wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2024 2:48pm It is not that sides based outside Melbourne travel every second week because that is their brief - including playing a Grand Final in Melbourne

Re: Perth-Home-Brisbane
Once it's accepted that the Collingwood fan base demands preferential treatment then it makes sense. Marketing doesn't know what the even playing field concept is and doesn't care.CURLY wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2024 2:56pmAgreed. Look at the Melbourne v Collingwood game. The dilemmas happen when it's a scheduling trade off between Essendon, Carlton and Pies. Otherwise suck it up is the arrogant response.
If it goes on for many more seasons and umpiring remains rubbish the golden goose will fly away.
Where will funding for medical research come from then.

Re: Perth-Home-Brisbane
We travel 1 more time than Collingwood this season, and that's to play Hawthorn in Tassie.
We don't always have to play the victim you know?

Not to round 14 but I erred. Carlton has 4 and so does Collingwood. I missed round zero which never happened.GSG wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2024 2:17pmWrong - Collingwood has 5 and Carlton 6 interstate trips.CURLY wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2024 1:01pmMassive leg up for the two clubs you named. Re: Perth-Home-Brisbane
St Kilda are the only team to have not played at the same venue in consecutive matches this season.
We don't do so until Rounds 16-17. Then again Rounds 19-20-21-22-23-24.
Our fixture this season is simply bizarre.

Looks to me like the supporter base, en masse, aren't fans of the stifling game plan.
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

West Coast, Sydney etc think of St Kilda as an interstate team. Collingwood and Melbourne etc too.

Re: Perth-Home-Brisbane
On the fixture, we have been screwed over on every measure compared to other teams, but oh no, don’t play the victim which is subtext for don’t question anything, especially the crap inflicted on us; just get used to it and put up with it.

Last season we had one of the, if not the, softest fixture in the league.SaintPav wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2024 9:33pm On the fixture, we have been screwed over on every measure compared to other teams, but oh no, don’t play the victim which is subtext for don’t question anything, especially the crap inflicted on us; just get used to it and put up with it.

We played 2 of the preliminary finalists twice. How is that the softest fixture?The_Dud wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2024 9:50pmLast season we had one of the, if not the, softest fixture in the league.SaintPav wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2024 9:33pm On the fixture, we have been screwed over on every measure compared to other teams, but oh no, don’t play the victim which is subtext for don’t question anything, especially the crap inflicted on us; just get used to it and put up with it.

Re: Perth-Home-Brisbane
It’s not the total season, it’s the concentration of when.
Our intestate travel is bunched and early in the season
Theirs is spread
Simple as that
It is definitely an issue

The fact our game in Tassie is an issue though. Also a trip to Geelong the same.
If we are competing with Collingwood theres two games better off.

In a 29 day span Collingwood went Sydney - Melbourne - Melbourne - Brisbane - Adelaide...
Seriously, why do you have to cry about every single thing?
