Re: Match Thread Saints v Suns
Not one commentator/expert I saw on Fox or channel 7 after the game tonight thought the free to King was there. Jack Riewoldt even saying “absolutely not”.
But I guess those 7-8 ex players are all clueless, biased flogs with agendas against St Kilda!

Re: Match Thread Saints v Suns
I understand wanting players & coaches to perform at peak.
I understand critique.
I also understand we have just beaten a team in the 8, who beat a team in the top 2 last week.
I don't care if we were insipid and won by 1. We won.
Let's enjoy it for feck sake.

According to Ling, Ben Long played one of the best games of football anyone will ever see. Absolutely dominated with his 10 disposals, 1 goal and 3 shots that didn't score.

Definitely a free kick to King. He was trying to lead and McAndrew was grabbing him because there was a 40 metre corridor in front of them.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Suns
King wasn’t leading (or even trying to lead) he was jostling to get over the back.
If he just turned and did a hit up lead he would’ve had an easy uncontested mark and shot at goal
That play fully encapsulates his issues
And one other play, the one where he gave away a clear push in the back free. Instead of just launching at the ball, he focused on his opponent.
He needs to understand
The less he wrestles and more he jumps the better

Re: Match Thread Saints v Suns
Watching the replay.... which is it? Are we are filled with low footy IQ players who instinctively long high bomb rather than a 20m dart to teammate 35 out all alone? Is it a team rule to ignore a free player in favour of a deep entry that the opposition know is our M.O? I'm up to 14 the number of burns. Is it that watching on TV doesn't reflect the difficulty on ground to see what looks like the obvious easy option? Higgins 10 min Q2 marks 50 out, plays on and 45 out hooks a point. Caminetti is alone, must be 15m in the clear 20m right in front, torched. Surely the option is the chip knowing the % is set shot in front. Surely. We blame Ross for the low scoring, I'd argue we get the entries but every week is same old and most are not executed to advantage. Ross' fault or Harvey/Goddard who are to blame for strategy and team rules?

Re: Match Thread Saints v Suns
Perhaps you should follow Manchester City.
Place photo of Hardwick on your bedroom wall.
If you want perfection then AFL and barracking for the Saints is just not your cup of tea.
Constantly finding fault in team, demeaning players, coach et al is getting a bit old, and easiest game in town; will be for sometime. Realism and credit where due would not go astray.
Just a stream of negatively.
Man City , get on board.

Anyways bias aside you win some you lose some.
We've been on the receiving end plenty of times so yup I'll take it.
Sing it loud and sing it proud but most of all hang around for this club will rise to claim the prize and then we will realise its not such a surprise.

He was also important with his tackles and stopping our momentum. Longy had a hand in 4 score involvements and 3 direct goal assists. The G Train Legacy wrote: ↑Sun 09 Jun 2024 12:46amBen Long was really good. Definitely one of the Suns best, but they didn't have many...and Lingy is a d**khead
The stat sheet says 2 x GA but Long also set up the goal by Touk Miller which put Gold Coast in front for the first time in the match.
Long was the one at the bottom of the pack and he somehow managed to tap the footy into space and back into the corridor. None of the commentators gave Ben any credit.
In a low scoring affair, I rated his game highly. He only had 10 disposals but compared to some other Suns players ...half of their touches were junk.
Still think we had better players on the night, than good ol' Benny Long
Windy shut down their most important player and that was an important psychological win to our side.
Sinclair was desperate in defence plus his run through the middle. Nas with his intercepts and also providing dash. Battle and Wilkie covered superbly for the loss of Howard.
Our captain was strong, reliable and smart. He has an uncanny knack of being in the right place to get clearances or stop his opponent from getting them. Clark and Dow were really good. Owens had a good first half and RoMa...well ...he is just amazing

They didn’t say any thing about the mark they took off King didn’t even replay it.
What about the goal they took off Wood?
