Just watched the replay of the last qtr (jet lag interrupted sleep)

Sharman looked a class above that qtr. His last goal was also a credit to work rate- he started the transition defensive side of the wing and then followed up to ultimately finish the play too.

He is the exact sort of player you don't want to lose patience with, still developing and has knack of showing up in key moments in otherwise quiet games. Turns 24 this year.

I'd give him a 1 year contract with a trigger for a 2nd if he can play more than 15 games.

Sometimes a club needs to carry players like Sharman, who don't seem to do much, but are smart ball users and will take one or two crucial marks, kick a couple of goals when things are tight in a game. I just hope Lyon doesn't strangle him into being yet another defensive plodder, and I would play him over Membrey at every chance, with respect to Tim who I think is slightly off the boil at senior level.

It may be that you position (noting you have an opponent because each side has 18 players on the field) to be an option in transition but uncontested ball in transition?

I know of Phillipou’s physical attributes, that he has quick hands, can mark and can kick

But in terms of pace therefore the ability to find space to be used ahead of a Sinclair or Wanganeen-Milera coming out of the back half looking at options, I do not have a read

No doubt the Coaching panel do so in them we trust

Winning plenty of the ball at the lower level will serve him and the Club well

Sport and performance always comes down to confidence including confidence in your team

Guys like Sharman are exactly the type of guys who turn Grand Finals. History is full of examples. He's worth holding on to.

He is pretty good as a forward at AFL level.

The way he is used by us doesn't help him.
He looks less elegant than Fitch of Narrm but he is no weakling.
Membrey may be stronger but hardly more agile. Long time since Tim took a pack mark.

This mission to rate guys against a super standard, for whatever reason, is silly. No runner matches Phar Lap, doesn't mean they all go to the knackery. A smart trainer places them well.
