I guess the coach will never get a pat on the back hereSaintWiki wrote: ↑Sat 01 Jun 2024 8:30pm At least we demonstrated we made an effort but giving credit to the coach when the moves he made should have been in place from the start. It's as if he had never heard of Harley Reid before, and even after the players were told to lower their eyes going into goal it's so very obvious the long bomb is still automatic - what the hell to they train for during the week. Nevertheless it was a good win and thanks to the players for their effort this week.
So he made good moves but not when you liked.. ok

Re: Match Thread Saints v Weagles Round 12 2024
It was a good win in the end, but all the derision poured o to this side and the coach in the first half was deserved.
If we had been playing a good team, the game would have been well over by half-time.
I hate having to dump on my team, but it's because I want success and time is running out for this supporter to see it.
Been watching for 58 years and we are the only team in the competition that I haven't seen have a dominant period.
I doubt any of my fellow posters who get angry over out performances as well don't enjoy doing it either, it is the frustration of wanting a good team and see good football and the disappointment of not seeing it.
I remember before those two Grand Finals saying to my wife it wasn't losing that I was worried about, because being a St.Kilda supporter, we are so use to it.
It was winning that I didn't know how to handle because it would have been something I had never experienced before.
I just want to feel that before my time is up.

If Reid doesn't get at least a week, the MRO is fundamentally broken.

Time for Seb Ross to play at Sandy. He's been awful this year. Crouch should come in his place.

Go have a look at their stats for those games and come back and tell me that it makes no difference to the team we played against today.magnifisaint wrote: ↑Sat 01 Jun 2024 8:47pmWell we also missed Darrell Baldock today. The eagles are historically bad and in for at least 5 more years of extreme pain given the age profile of their list and best 22.magnifisaint wrote: ↑Sat 01 Jun 2024 8:42pm Eagles aren't so s*** at home. Fixed up Freo and Melbourne.

Well I'll say that King would probably have kicked 3 in the last quarter if he hadn't gone off at 3qt. Re: Match Thread Saints v Weagles Round 12 2024
People need to realise that we were still putrid for a large part of the match. Barely got on top of a still rebuilding Eagles outfit who will finish bottom 3 or 4 and were missing their two most influential players.
Reid should never have been given the license to get as much ball as he did in the first half. It baffles me why Windy wasn't on him from the get go. Our captain not touching the ball in the first quarter is inexcusable as well, although fair play to him getting 15 tackles.
Tonight's performance doesnt convince me that we are better than our form and ladder position shows.

This week was more about stopping the rot and giving ourselves something to build on. I think we did that.walkingslug wrote: ↑Sat 01 Jun 2024 9:06pm People need to realise that we were still putrid for a large part of the match. Season 2024 is shot, but we still need to learn from every match.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Weagles Round 12 2024
Honest question - when was the last time we beat the Eagles in Perth three years in a row?
And we have actually beaten them four years in a row because we beat them at Docklands in 2021 before that (I was sitting with my family next to Milney for that one!).
And - if memory serves me correct - we were behind at half time in ALL of those matches.
EDIT: Just checked it was 1997, 1998, and 1999.
Note - we also won 3 out of 4 against the Eagles in Perth between 2007-2010.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Weagles Round 12 2024
We can do so much better
But I'm still happy as we just beat the toast for the third straight time in Perth .
We've only done this once before during the Alves era .
Hopefully we can make it a record four next time we play them over there .
