Owens has a real habit of kicking the first goal of late

I think WC will be tough to beat on their deck

Euro-Yroke will not lose this weekend.
I hope St Kilda will not lose either.

West coast much improved on their home deck
They will be feeling like they can win this
Confidence, self belief and attacking footy wins games

A defence first mind set promotes a fear of losing and a fear of making mistakes mindset as compared to an attacking confident mindset (eg Collingwood 2023) which promotes a belief that we can grab this win mindset. This is the fundamental flaw with Ross Lyon teams.
I can’t see the self belief coming back to this group any time soon.

I've tipped a lot of away teams this week.

Carlton to beat Port...tick✅

Pies to lose to Dogs (funny...not really an away game for the Dogs)

Hawks to lose at home to the Crows

Essendon to win up on the Gold Coast

Freo to upset the Demons...and

Saints to win over there

Zed's post is ❤💯

Ross publicly, in his pressers, keeps saying that the club is creating an environment where players can be brave, take risks, take the game on, etc.
Every game we've seen, apart from Pies and Norf, seems the opposite.
One game Bonner had nearly 1000m gained yet had 30+ turnovers.
And that kick-in to Hill that went 35m but over his fingertips, gifting a goal to an oppo?
And lots and lots of examples of players fluffing handpasses and kicks over and over again makes me think they're very nervous and tentative.

RTB games have usually been 'strangle the game' which cannot translate to winning.

This is very interesting Zed.
The mindset thing, from attacking to defensive (bit timid, yes). Does your analysis mean teams 1 to 8 have attacking mindsets and 9 to 18 defensive along a sort of continuum?
What is the diagnosis when a team below another beats the higher ranked team. Some point in the game they swapped mindsets.
Clarkson, Yze and Simpson more defensive minded than Ross, but his relentless defensive approach means we must finish bottom. How does that work.
Injuries, suspensions, list quality really not impacting factors? It's down to mindset, eh.
Well well.

Yorkeys...
You are misrepresenting and misquoting Zed.

You're reading between the lines and inventing a narrative that's not what Zed is saying.

Play a good first quarter as if you have a desire to actually win a game.

After siren, our guys will be laughing with WCE players as if they've just finished a game of mini golf.
That fills me with joy, that they don't take the game seriously. There's more to life, it's just a sport, hey.

Not like the game is paying for their $1.5 mil house in Burwood, Berwick, or Beaconsfield, or their $140k BMW soccer-mum SUV that their wife uses for the school run

Weather Update

It's currently overcast, dreary in Perth.
A bit cold- 14°

But Accuweather forecast for Optus tomorrow is
22- 24° with zero chance of rain

That's all very well, but what did Harley have for breakfast, any comment from his fend coach, any chance he's been out at Northbridge every night, bought a Lamborgini and is stuck near Eucla...

Prediction

Our key forwards will struggle against the two elite key defenders in Barrass and McGovern. Most of our goals will come from small forwards and midfielders, which won't amount too many. Higgins to be our major goal kicker

Our midfield will do a little bit better but will still be beaten. Once again we'll get beaten at centre bounces, but will be a bit better around the ground.

Our defense will be solid and we'll get decent run off half back

Wood and Henry to get back to form and Brad Hill to be one of our best

Inaccurate kicking will hurt us and we'll give up red time goals in the first three quarters

We'll get smashed by the umpires and West Coast will get 7 goals either directly or indirectly from umpire errors or oversights

West Coast by 12 points

cwrcyn mentions the 2 pillars of Meth Coast defence.

Well, May and Tomlinson got 50 touches against us, so it's highly likely the Gov and his sidekick will embarrass our impotent fwds yet again 🤷‍♂️

You could risk a multi on those 2 getting 25+ possies each, and WCE to lead at qtr time, and Darling to get 2+ snags.

I wonder whether Owens will get only 8 touches and miss a set shot from 30m out...

Lyon to put work into Tim Kelly and of course Harley Reid. Who gets the job? I reckon that's how Seb kept his spot, did a good shut down job on De Goey, he'll get one of them.

Hopefully, Liam Henry to spend a lot of time in the middle and centre bounces.

Ross has half the tackles per game of Windy. Obviously the game has changed with more congestion etc... but I still think Ross needed to work a bit harder on his defensive game

Down by 5 goals at quarter time.
We stay in the competition through the second and third by WC kicking poorly.
We kick junk time goals in the last quarter to lose by 11 points.
WC have double the number of scoring shots we do and McGovern gets a lazy 35 possessions off half back.

The CoR (Cult of Ross) can then tell us that we are so close it is just skills, injuries, assistant coaches, umpires, the moon in retrograde in Sagittarius and the corrupt Biden administration that is conspiring against Ross.
They will tell us that we would have lost by 300 points except for the divine intervention of the greatest man who has ever walked on the face of the earth.
