Harley Reagles vs Saints
Harley Reagles is currently getting a hard pumping by 80+ pts yet they will likely go in as favourites against us

Yes
It's not often a team gets smashed by 100 points but be favourite next week .
The odds may currently be in our favour but I doubt too many punters will be laying anything on us .
The wet toast went through the motions today as they have a few times this year , they knew they wouldn't win and played accordingly.
Next week at home with everything in there favour they will look like a completely different side .

Yep
Grammar is what we need to focus on?
While the reason we are here, the footy team, is playing putrid football.
But yeah, worry about commas and apostrophes!!!

Re: Harley Reagles vs Saints
There were some excellent performances in the magoos again today.
I was at the G, but the stats from our midfielders were very impressive against an excellent Casey side.
I would suggest if they come in next week, the Eagles will face a very different St Kilda side than the one that took the field at the MCG today.
It has been a long time since a St Kilda team lost by 99 points as the Eagles did today.

Re: Harley Reagles vs Saints
This team that we've all hung our hearts on since we were in nappies, is predictable in respect of games in which they will let the oppo take charge and roll them.
Any team like the Meth Toasters, that's been down and out, and has managed to win one or two against the odds- will face us in a game and grab us by the throats.
We can be relied upon to put in a rubbish performance and allow the oppo to dominate and call the shots.
A few weeks ago, WCE had a nice win where some of their former stars played like they were reborn, riding on the coat-tails of a hybrid Cripps/Judd/Dusty Martyn not yet 20 years of age.
We'll get monstered

The way it looks - a team that loses by 99 points in their next game beats a team that played finals the previous year. Please, Please beat the Weegirls.

Re: Harley Reagles vs Saints
This game will be hell for us due to umpiring.
Look at the free kick diff last week- not just raw numbers, what about the freedom the Dees got- yet we got pinged for stuff they got away with.
Crowd noise always helps WCE.
I've seen every Perth game in person since 98, and the noise the crowd makes when one of their fwds gets a free is louder than a 737 on takeoff.
Their fwds get dubious marks paid most of the time, as the noise ramps up when the ball comes in, and the ump usually has the whistle already in the mouth.
Expect Howard to give away at least 4-5 frees in front, which at Marvel would be 50/50.
Wilkie will get pushed under the ball yet will get zero.
I've seen WCE fwds be awarded dubious marks, yet the look on their face is like an 8 y.o. who's dropped a vase on the tiles.
Disgraceful.
At the risk of sounding like Curly...
Umps are in the spotlight.
They get cheered and jeered.
It will influence their mindset.
They're not robotic AI umps, they are human and having 99% of the crowd noise going one way only, will affect them.
In a game with 50/50 crowd split (or one of our games with a 70/30) there is far more balance.
Like I said, look at last week- 10 frees to us, a lot more to Dees.
Imagine the 99% noise factor.
And it's not just the number, it's the location.
Inside our D50, the noise is immense.
You have to be there to hear it

Re: Harley Reagles vs Saints
That is exactly why you need to come out firing and try to blow them out of the water in the first quarter. They are still losing games by 99 points and 76 points, and the season is still only at the halfway mark.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Tue 28 May 2024 1:44pm This game will be hell for us due to umpiring.

Umps aren’t to blame for our predicament but geez I reckon with 4 of them …games gone backwards
So up and down - against Pies we got the rub of the green
Against Dees ?? Absolutely not
It’s just another in a long list of reasons why this comp is THE most uneven professional sporting code in the world
That , dodgy fixtures (we’ll get a good one next year..be ba k playing finals…are we suddenly great list?? BS), northern academies ..GC have another 7-8 this year??? , father sons??, throw in inconsistent, unreliable umpiring and it’s not hard to see results being manipulated by outside factors…
We gonna need a LOT of talent to over come that
“Yeah….nah””

Re: Harley Reagles vs Saints
But who is the toughest player in the backline capable of putting the wind up him? Hard-nut Howard?
Hopefully the rain, as forecast, will precipitate down which will help our plodding midfield.

Re: Harley Reagles vs Saints
Just checked forecast for the game.
Early today, there was 6mm of rain starting about 2nd qtr.
Now, the forecast is no rain (probability 7%)
But strong winds- 30 kmh
Our guys are inaccurate so wind or no wind- no matter

Re: Harley Reagles vs Saints
Stocker or Battle are our strongest and most suited. I remember years ago when Josh smashed into Fyfe. Took him out of the game. That was allowed back then. No MRO citing, no suspension https://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/frema ... 881161153z
Stocker has some experience handling the bull inside mids. He was ok with Petracca when it came to push and shove manoeuvring, but when Petracca put on the jets and took off, Liam was left in his wake.
Both capable.

Off topic, but a great read on concussion and technology used to measure the forces involved when there's head knocks
It discusses the Battle/Fyfe collision along with other incidents involving Saints players

Young Henry and that Higgins chap maybe.
Barass looks in good touch so maybe Owens to try to be spectacular on him.

Re: Harley Reagles vs Saints
Nasiah , when he gets going and sells candy 3 or 4 times in a row is good to watch
Liam Henry can light things up and I think he's due for a big game soon. His match fitness will now be at a stage where it was before he did his hammy.
I think with Clark and Crouch coming in to the side this week, I'd like to see Windhager managed. He isn't impacting games and I don't want him in the team as purely a tagger.
Last week against Melbourne he had 4 kicks for the entire game plus 12 handballs. 7 contested. 9 uncontested. His disposal efficiency was a very poor 56%.
I don't want players picked in the team, just because they are fit and can run all day. Windy needs to work on his disposal and his decision making.
Out: Windhager and Sharman
In: Crouch and Clark
I'd keep Collard in one more week if Butler isn't available. I'd manage Steele and have him in the forward line for 60% game time.

Re: Harley Reagles vs Saints
Bonner - 2 clangers, 2 turnovers
Windhager - 6 clangers, 5 turnovers
Sinclair - 3 clangers, 7 turnovers
Steele - 3 clangers, 7 turnovers
Wood - 5 clangers, 6 turnovers
Dow - 2 clangers, 5 turnovers
Henry - 2 clangers, 3 turnovers
Wilson - 2 clangers, 4 turnovers
Marshall - 7 clangers, 3 turnovers
Nasia WM - 0 clangers, 3 turnovers
Wilkie - 0 clangers, 2 turnovers
Webster - 0 clangers, 3 turnovers
We’re top 2 in the AFL for turnovers. Interestingly, Sydney comes third
Also, we’re top 5 for clangers. Sydney is equal with us here in this stat. So on their own, clangers and turnovers don’t define you.
We’re bottom 5 for kicking efficiency, and Sydney are top 4 in this stat.
https://www.wheeloratings.com/afl_stats ... ?year=2024
Our best kicks (kicking disposal efficiency) are Wilkie who is top 20 in the league and Howard who is top 30.
Webster, Wanganeen-Millera and Stocker sneak in to the top 100 and Bonner sits just outside
Guys like Sinclair and Wood are currently around 200th in the league for efficiency by foot

Checked weather forecast for Optus on Satdee.
It's changed again.
22/24° from 2pm-5pm with zero chance of 🌧
I went past the outside of Optus 3 hrs ago and it was bucketing down - reminded me of going to games at VFL Park.
Perth soil is very sandy and drains incredibly quickly.
I use Accuweather app for all my forecasts as you can pick any suburb in the world and get hourly forecast on temp, wind, wind direction, UV level, etc.
A group of top global weather forecast companies were assessed from 2018-2022 and Accuweather won every criteria by the length of the Flemington Straight)
