Which ex saints would you draft?
If you could draft any four ex saints from the last 30 years into today's team, based on need, who would they be? Im going with Lenny, harvey, everitt and early luke Ball.
All mids! I resisted the temptation to add my all time favourite.

Lenny, Harvey, Goddard, Riewoldt.
Course would like to grab Dal Santo, Gehrig, Milne and a few others. Sam Fisher would go close, but I’d have to pass as he will be available only for home games for the next few seasons.

As good as Goddard was, anyone else think he was a bit overrated in the the context of 1DP?
Was a fairly bland type of player most of the time.

Plugger, Harvs, Hayes, Riewoldt.
The only discussion is do you go for Hayes or Winmar?
Also a smokey for peak Jack Steven.

s***, how could I forget Plugger. Played for us until 1994, so just makes the 30-year limit. How careless of me. So, Lockett, Harvey, Hayes, Riewoldt .

I was thinking based on biggest needs right now. I.e. no midfield, rather than just the best 4 players.
Plugged might struggle with the delivery atm

But the greatest player in the game’s history would make a difference to our forward line Crossy. As would Rooey. You could move Max King to second ruck.
If it were four midfielders, I’d go Harvey, Hayes, Goddard, Winmar/Dal Santo.

Re: Which ex saints would you draft?
You're right. Plugger only needed sky balls and he would get to them.
Ima thinking extractors as that's what we don't have, plus a great athletic tap ruckman that goes forward is something we haven't had for a while

Re: Which ex saints would you draft?
Yeah, plus he would make space in which to lead. No one dared get in his way
Re: Which ex saints would you draft?
That Harvey had twin sons of comparable ability to him and that Lockett had a son of comparable ability to him

Re: Which ex saints would you draft?
With the current collision and tackle rules Plugger would be playing one game in three. Unfortunately, the modern game has no room for players like Plugger. You would have to wonder if he would be as effective if he had to slim down to play the roving role that all forwards are expected to play.

This is a much better thread.
Too much negativity on the forum lately. Too much focus on how we’re playing and how we’re being coached

Re: Which ex saints would you draft?
Not sure today's footy suits plugger.
Riewoldt- would help our transition immensely
Hayes- would help Steele
Kosi- Forward ruck to perfectly compliment Marshall.
Here is a smokey for you if your talking peak form versions of themselves. Jack Steven. One of the few players we've had who can explode out of a stoppage.

Past 30 years would exclude plugger
I’d go
Reiwoldt
Hayes
Milne
Everitt
Very tempted by
Jack Steven - stoppage speed
Gehrig - deep forward to allow Max to higher
Dal - Ball use
Goddard - same

We could trade Max.
Dal, Kosi (2005 form) , Winmar, Hamill unlucky.
Lockett was an amazing player but the game has moved on.
