Adam Oooooooooozaaaaaayyy
Don’t think he’s a student of our recent history.
He’s done a ‘Scott Watters’ after walking in as new senior coach at Richmond. I actually reckon Watters was doing the right thing (considering the club hadn’t achieved the ultimate) but Watters perhaps didn’t get support from his captain and leaders. Also with St Kilda we didn’t have 2 legends retiring in Cotchin and Jack as Richmond have had. Plus Shane Edwards and Bachar Houli not easily replaced, plus Dusty looks like he’ll never get back to the player he was in that premiership era.
Richmond getting pumped half way through the second quarter …Round Zero…
I’ve heard Yze in interviews and he sounds like an over ambitious tosser. He’s talking about aiming for ‘premierships’ when realistically, they’re at Level 1 stage of a rebuild. Ground Zero!! They’ll be in rebuild mode for the next 5 years at least imo
How long before the senior players revolt? How long before the fans (the media) and the board kick him out?

Re: AFL General Discussion
Pretty quickly if their first half effort is anything to go by, down 61 points to the Suns at half time is not an ideal start.

Essendon are
Made to look ordinary by a very good team in Port Adelaide
We did that to them last year in our 150th anniversary game.
We made a lot of errors last week. I don't think we'll have 2 bad games in a row

Re: AFL General Discussion
I love watching good games of footy
The Gold Coast game was unbelievable. What a goal feast
The Port game v Hawthorn
And then... tonight...how good is it to see a bottom team beat a top 4 team and West Coast actually kicked over 100 points

Re: AFL General Discussion
Wasn’t it fantastic to see him do the fend off first to Oliver then pirouette and to the same thing to Petracca in a matter of seconds? Harley looks as if he’s totally enjoying himself & has dragged a few ageing Eagles along for the ride now.
Although I hope in a couple of weeks time when Eagles play the Saints here in Perth, another family member in Tongala has a birthday and Simpson sends him back to Tongala to be with his family & be managed. Don’t think we have a player who can go with him, so he might cause us some embarrassment…… Maybe Windy is the best bet??

Or his mate from junior days, who also comes from a town in Vic not far from him, in Darcy Wilson. Darcy obviously not as strong but be interesting to see who can run the fastest.

Re: AFL General Discussion
North must be kicking themselves for not tanking and getting hold of Harley Reid when they had the chance, he looks to me like the best draftee this century, and that includes Chris Judd. Such incredible strength and pace, an absolute game breaker!
Great challenge and opportunity for Darcy Wilson from the same intake to be given the job to "mind" Reid. They've probably played on each other in junior footy.

Or who lasts the longest in the AFL? I think Harley Reid, the way he plays might get banged up very quickly.66Iwasthere wrote: ↑Wed 22 May 2024 4:44pm Or his mate from junior days, who also comes from a town in Vic not far from him, in Darcy Wilson. I’m so impressed with our ‘under the radar’, Darcy Wilson, just hope we can keep him in a Saints jumper and get another 300 games out of him - he has potential, ‘A’ grader written all over him.
In the interviews with Wilson, he appears such a level-headed, self-effacing and humble young fellow, that will let his football talents do the talking for him.
Also with Bob Murray as a family friend, he can only be a Saints champ!!

Re: AFL General Discussion
Matty Nicholls is a vindictive prick.
I think it was late in the 3rd quarter or maybe early in the last, that Steele Sidebottom was at the bottom of a pack and Nicholls was the presiding ump. Umpire blows whistle and as Steele gets up, Nicholls is calling for the footy. He called out Steele’s name twice. Sidebottom ignored him and placed the football on the ground and just concentrated on the set ups and looking for his opponent.
Nicholls was visibly pissed off.
That free kick Nicholls gave against Lachie Sullivan was his way of penalising Collingwood for what Steele Sidebottom had done…imo

Re: AFL General Discussion
Of course it's the rule (not handing it to another player) but it wasn't written in the rule book to specifically prevent this situation.
If Sullivan put the ball on the ground and didn't hand it straight back to Nicholls he would NOT have been penalised. Nicholls didn't have to bend down. Nicholls had already blown time on.
Sullivan made an error. It wasn't blatant time wasting.
Umpires have the ability to adjudicate some rules in the spirit that they were intended or they can adjudicate them in a literal sense.
In finals and in close games it's one of those decisions (especially late in a game) that an umpire should exercise discretion and only pay a free if it is obvious.
Nicholls gifted Freo a goal. He's a power tripper

Jack Bytel has recovered from his concussion and is straight back in, named on a wing for the Filth's game against the Dullbogs.

Disgusting that MC didn't think Bytels's concussion was worthy of suspending the guy who bashed into him
Really hope he gets an injury free run. He's the only Collingwood player I wish has any good luck

Re: AFL General Discussion
Brisbane just had a big win at Marvel over the Doggies. That’s 9 wins at Marvel from their last 11 outings there.
They play well there and obviously they’ve been a very good team the last 5 years.
Maybe the slippery surface at night suits them, because they play in pretty humid and slippery conditions up in Queensland
Maybe the Gold Coast might play well there at night too because they are familiar with the humidity and slippery conditions.
I think we’ll put up a huge fight, but they're on a mission this week and it’s going to be hard to hold back all their stars
