Re: Team Saints V Melbourne
WTF with Bonner keeping his spot and Byrnes coming back?! Sharman at least looks like he will only be an emergency.
Perhaps Byrnes is meant to run with Langdon, although I thought RTB didn’t like doing that sort of thing.

Re: Team Saints V Melbourne
I used to think RTB 1.0 was sometimes trying to troll the fan base with his selections. He seems to be at it again this week.

Re: Team Saints V Melbourne
Dropping Pou is not mystifying.
Higgins in, not mystifying.
Bigger bodied Seb v Petraccia/Oliver not mystifying.
Stocker to replace Bonner or Paton, not mystifying.
Byrnes on MCG not mystifying.
All can be debated, but hardly mystifying.
Crouch and Clark not fit enough?
Hayes v Caminiti. Anthony got 2 last week, needs a block of games surely.
Anyway seems less than mystifying.
But we all see it differently.

Re: Team Saints V Melbourne
It maybe that they think the wide open spaces of the G suit Byrnes's running
It will probably be a game where he gets it 25 times and looks decent .... only then to scrub it up the following weeks

Maybe Crouch and Clark have dared to question some of the bosses decisions. We all know where that will get them.

Re: Team Saints V Melbourne
Wow, Ryan Byrnes back on the wing. How does that happen?
In the past six weeks he's been terrible at AFL and VFL level
Surely it would have been better to put Henry on the wing and played Clark as a sub.

I call bulls***. What was Pou supposed to work on during his 1 week down there that he stuffed up so poorly that he’s back down again?older saint wrote: ↑Thu 23 May 2024 9:09pm clearly there is specific things which players must improve on at Sandy because after watching Sunday surely Garcia should be in.
Crouch and even clark perhaps due to injury history need to build a fitness base?
Emerg to me should be
Bonner , Sharman, Jones , Paton
Sub either Ross or Collard

Re: Team Saints V Melbourne
Byrne's to have a lockdown - run with role.
Garcia was getting a few tackles but not enough of the ball at AFL level. He needs to learn the game. Better in the VFL than under the spotlight.
Crouch is too valuable to rush back.
Would have thought planning for next year will start soon. Can't have all of Sharman, Hayes, Caminiti vying for Membreys spot. One will fall as Owen's also needs a spot in that forward line.

Re: Team Saints V Melbourne
Byrnes = Robert Eddy
Bonner = Brett Peake (?)
When is Keeler going to get a go?? If we’re going to score 50 points and lose every game, at least give us something to look forward to .

Re: Team Saints V Melbourne
It's a sign we are tanking.
This is not a side that is intent on actually trying to win this (very winnable) match.
We are playing a very dangerous game on several fronts.
How many senior players will feel disenchanted by this decision? Happy to sacrifice winnable games in the first half of a season for a draft pick ?

Can understand these selections but how does Bonner keep his spot? He played so bad last week he was being boo’d by large portions of the saints crowd, don’t think I’ve ever seen that before.

Re: Team Saints V Melbourne
I don’t think this means he can’t be dropped as an emergency does it? Is there a rule you can only pick your 3 emergencies from the Thursday named interchange? I’ve never heard of it.Otiman wrote: ↑Thu 23 May 2024 8:59pmAgree with your first two points but you're missing a key point on Byrnes, the VFL game is on the same day.
Byrnes won't play at either level. Extended bench selected to allow players with more upside to play VFL.
Edit: Just checked the team and he's named on the field. I'm flabbergasted.
