Best 22
Suggesting your best 22 is normally stupid because injuries prevent that team from ever being selected.
But for this Sunday the selectors have only one confirmed injury.
That being James Van Es out for the season after ankle surgery.
Arie Schoenmaker needs to pass the concussion test to be available.
There are some players returning to the available list who may be short on fitness but effectively selectors hae a full ist to choose from.
So either the selectors choose the Best 22 or they substitute a player who they think will eventually be Best 22 so want to give him a game anyway.
You be the selectors and choose your Best 22 for this weeks game.

Love this team you've put together -- I think this is pretty much our best 22 as well.B.M wrote: ↑Wed 22 May 2024 11:22am B: Wilkie - Howard - Webster

I think one issue might be that we'll struggle for forward pressure with that front 6. But not sure how to rectify that with the current list unless Butler really regains form (who makes the Sandy 22 though, I think).

Re: Best 22
Yes, at least the midfield has some different elements in there.
Bull mids like Owens, and Steele and some skill in Henry , Sinclair.
I cannot understand for the life of me, the reluctance to put Michito in the guts - even for 5 or 6 mins a quarter.
We do have forward options to cover.

Re: Best 22
In some very intelligent fixturing Sandringham play at the same time as St Kilda, so despite having next to no injuries, one or two of our emergencies won't play at all this weekend.

Re: Best 22
We are better off not taking any emergencies into the game then. If we're one short so be it.

Re: Best 22
I ummed and ahhed between Bonner and Paton as the seventh defender.
Flip of the coin really
One is a better offensive player, one is better defensively
Hunts I don’t think has 4 AFL quarters in him atm
Fully fit - he’s in rotating between HB and Midfield with Sincs and Stocker to the bench.

Re: Best 22
Is it my imagination or are most sides physically larger than our current best 22.
Or are we unlucky with the chaos ball situations.
Does our best 22 handball to space or to a predictable close and covered team mate.
Freo seemed to generally out muscle us in the contested ball scraps and send quick long handballs to loose team mates. We seemed to do the opposite. But that could be supporter bias.

Re: Best 22
I was at training today (Wednesday), i didn't see RTB out on the ground, he might have snuck out and i didn't see him BUT the session seemed to be run by the Assistant Coaches.
I did see Georgia P wandering around a couple of times, that was much better than seeing RTP.
One of the training drills seemed to pay a lot of attention on tackling technique and sticking the tackle.
What i noticed in match sim was if players dropped a mark, fumbled or didn't hit a target by foot it didn't matter, reset and go again.
I didn't see any players handballing to another player under more pressure because, there wasn't any real pressure.
This was the T1 session of the week, they may well up the ante for T2 on Friday.

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

IF we ignore that a few are underdone and need to either come bank through Sandy or another week at Sandy , here is my guess:
B: Stocker, Howard, Wilkie

HF: Owens Membrey , Henry
F Butler, King, Higgins
Foll: Marshall, Steele, Windy
INt: Clark, Wilson Dow, Webster
Emerg: Ross , Poo, Camaniti,Campbell ( just because he is always emerg)
