Sack Lyon

Post: # 2060051Post Jaz »

Put a fork in him, hes done.

Taken a middle team and turned them into a bottom 4 side that cant score. For reference Geelong without a bunch of their best players go to Darwin, get flogged by 60+ points and still manage to kick 100 themselves. At least their supporters have some goals to cheer. We scrap our way to a whoppping average of 72 points a game.

Its rubbish and can't continue.

I expect he’ll be referred to as “embattled Saints coach, Ross Lyon” by someone in the media this week.

But I reckon he’ll need a few more bad losses before the board will act.

Not the answer.

We’re poorly coached at present, but who is available to turn this slightly better than VFL standard list around?

Clearly playing the list to see what’s what.

Collard over Membrey
Patton over Ross

Yeah of course he’s going full tilt

Anyway. Chin up everybody.

The Saints didn’t lose tonight. It was some useless outfit called Euro-Yuroke.

Surely they’d give Boris a crack at the job. Please, please not Harvey.

It's not just the low scoring every week

It's the rubbish excuses we hear ... it's the sycophants telling us about his great understanding of the game...etc

I think he's struggling to coach in the modern game. Has he worked out how our runners should be used? Has we worked out how our best players can be used?

Also... just don't understand the 'match committee' selections. Let's face it, Lyon runs the football department. The decisions are his!

Plays Paton instead of Jones, Dow or Clark against the Hawks. Dow was ok today. Should have played last week and would have probably gelled better with our mids tonight

Plays Collard for 1 game as sub and then drops him.
The kid is not going to gell with his team mates if you decide to drop him again next week.

Plays Mattaes for several weeks where Mattaes is struggling. He brings him back in after just 1 week. I thought it might work...but I was overly optimistic

We're stuffed

Laughing stock

I'm not contributing to this thread because I agree with the title. I don't want Lyon sacked...but ffs!!

We just need to try and play with a little freedom and release the shackles. No more tagging.

No more restrict, defend, kill the footy. Let's aim to be a team who kicks goals

It’s an interesting dilemma I think. If we did switch to that style I have no doubt we would lose a bunch of games by massive margins (upsetting supporters). And yet the way we are currently playing is also upsetting supporters. It’s losing barely ugly as a kind of defence that “hey we’re not far off these teams” when in reality we’ve never really played good enough footy to look like winning those games in the first place.

Our recruiters have a chronic aversion to quality midfielders.

Why Weitering?

Maybe Lyin can't adapt to modern footy, maybe our great development coach is constrained by the Lyin method,

F*** knows what the real answer is but there is a big stench in Linton Street.

We are consistent though, we have perfected the art of failure regardless of the constantly evolving club employees.

Maybe Seaford wasn't at fault after all.

Who would you rather watch?

A team with a few good wins and some terrific footy scattered amongst many losses (including some massive margins)...or a team that plays this boring style and still has losses (but we are close on the scoreboard) ??

I know who I'd rather watch. I know what our players would enjoy more

The development isn't going to be a linear graph pointing upwards...we all realise that

We have young players so we understand there will be inconsistent form from some

What we are getting right now, is consistent low scoring. Consistent ugly and boring football

That has to change

I’m not calling for his sacking but that was unwatchable.

My first game of the year and last.

On top of that had to deal with a d**khead Freo supporter and his screeching daughter throughout the game.

It's got nothing to do with the Coach, we've got far too many pea hearts on the List. We've hardly got any on field leaders and most of our midfielders are sub par. Then we've got a 7 foot full forward who refuses to lead and at the moment is inferior to Beau Maister.
Our Captain is a good player, but not elite and isn't a Captain. Wilkie or Marshall are more suitable.
In addition to being pea hearts, many of the pea hearted are also f*****' selfish, playing safe and content to let others do the work.
Sacking Lyon would be insanity, what we need is an end to Cuddly Ross.

There's one if two possibilities.
1) the game has passed Lyon and his game plan doesn't work anymore.
Or (2) Lyon's game plan is good but our players are too stupid to be able to follow it.

I have been a big supporter of lyon to date. But it’s the persistence with selection of players like Bonner, jones and Howard. Guys who have no right to be playing AFL and week in week out disrespect the jumper and the fans with
their pitiful effort.

Now the season is definitely over what is the point of playing these guys? They bring nothing and are all likely delisted at year end.
