Went to school with Gerard Mullaly.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Drug dealers deserve everything they get.
Remind me again how did old s*** lips got off his charges despite overwhelming evidence.

"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

I'm sure this will send a very strong message to anyone thinking of importing or using drugs in the future. I expect all drug use to cease today. Five years' jail will cost taxpayers about $1 million.

He's talking about Mark Thompson. He wasn't dealing.
Wasn't he called fish lips.

Re: Fisher jailed
Well I differ. I don't condone what Sam has done in any way and he needs to be punished. However, I feel very sad that he chose this irresponsible path. I hope he comes out the other end fully aware of his responsibilities and mentally capable. In other words, rehabilitated not destroyed. And please don't come he probably destroyed other peoples lives as I am aware of that horrible possibility.

Saying if a good boy out in around 3.
once again the soft judiciary of this country shows up.
A lawyer recently got done for pinching $2m of clients money and got 6 year min 4, a guy get caught trafficking a massive amount of drugs that will kill people and get less. tough on white collar ( fair enough to ) but soft on other crimes.

Re: Fisher jailed
The system is designed to rehabilitate
Such that upon release these people can successfully re enter society and contribute
The first invitation is good behaviour
As an example is Terry Jenner who continued to break the law including in the employ of the Godfather to his daughter where that offer of employment saw a suspended sentence
Jail was therefore guaranteed when he defrauded his benefactor and employer, who referred Terry’s theft to the authorities
Terry was supported in jail including by Ian Chappell
Good behaviour saw his early release
And the rest is history including coaching a young leg spinner by the name of Warne
Terry rebuilt his life - but he had to hit the bottom as the start point
We should all trust that Sam Fisher rehabilitates and goes on to re-establish as a responsible citizen

Re: Fisher jailed
This is actually a very good outcome. Parole in 3 years if he continues his path of redemption. Society expects drug dealers to get jail time and that has happened. On the other side of the equation- a recent article stated how even after 40+ days incarcerated AND time in rehab he had had relapses. He needs the time to get himself right. This dose t have to be the end of the story. In 3 years time he will have the option to write a great next positive chapter. He will get support in jail. The rest is up to him

Exactly, the biggest dealer in pot in this country is the federal government and they have the audacity to jail someone for doing the same.

When Nacy said just say no 50 years ago to kick off the "war on drugs", who would have thought the privately owned prisons would be the biggest winners.perfectionist wrote: ↑Thu 16 May 2024 12:37pm I'm sure this will send a very strong message to anyone thinking of importing or using drugs in the future. Re: Fisher jailed
Meanwhile just attended a Q&A with former Carlton player Adrian Gleeson of John Lyng.
Executive Director & Director of Investor & Business Relations.
Adrian served as the Group’s Chairman from 2011 to Listing.
The guy got $1.259million in FY2023, doing a real job not just kicking footy.
https://announcements.asx.com.au/asxpdf ... w7rkph.pdf page 62
It shows what can be done if retired footballers knuckle down and work hard instead of expecting the world to continue to pay them a fortune like when they kicked a footy.
Fisher chose and easy way to make money and will now pay the price.
After finishing his AFL playing career with the Carlton Football Club (where he played 176 games, was a member of the 1987 Premiership team and is a Life Member), he developed a career in the wealth management and financial services industries.
In 1999, he established C.A.G Wealth Management, which subsequently merged with Tribeca Financial. Adrian had a strong focus on relationship building within the SME market and he supported a number of high net worth individuals, family offices and corporates helping to co-ordinate their accounting, legal, banking and finance affairs in a successful manner.
As Executive Director, Adrian plays a key leadership role supporting investor relations, government relations, new client acquisition and M&A programs.

Re: Fisher jailed
Fisher’s issues were very well known during his playing days. Even I who has no connections to the club whatsoever hears the stories around 2010 (which I think made me late to the party).
I dare say that what happened post footy was not a case of him trying to make “easy money” but rather part of the spiral that people with a habit often go through when use is problematic but they’re desperate to keep it going.
I hear these stories a bit at work. People end up either owing money or can’t afford what they want so they end up doing favours/running errands and get deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole.
Fisher comes across to me as someone that lost control a long time ago and is paying the price for it

Thanks skeptic
Easy for people to judge others when they haven't walked in their shoes.
He will pay a price for his decisions.
I don't know his personal struggles, and I'm not asking anyone to feel sorry for him if they don't want to....just wanted to say Sam is still one of my favourite former Saints players.
I remember him fondly during the period he was a star for the RW&B. The following news report is from April 2009
