We started the 3rd quarter with Paton replacing Hayes. The commentators said that was a good attacking mindset from coach.
Where's the attacking mindset from the opening bounce?
Been banging on about this for weeks....Would love to see Windy and Owens start in the middle alongside Steele.
Hopefully the boys share the footy a bit better this week and hopefully we start well.

Owens should be played like Pickett, go in for the centre bounces and then head forward, works well for Melb

Lyon tried Owens as a mid (with Marshall as the ruckman) at a few centre bounces. I remember him going in for 2 ctr bounces late in the third.
Owens is a beast. He makes opposition mids hear footsteps...he tackles hard and he is a genuine ball hunter. He makes sure if he doesn't get it that they don't.
What does Lyon do for the 4th quarter? He has Paton in the centre as a close checking tagger on Newcombe. It didn't work
Newcombe won the footy 8 times in last quarter. 4 contested. He had only 6 touches in the 3rd when Steele and Windy were on him
Sinclair attended 13 centre bounces. That's good imo. He needs to be part of the midfield and the more time he spends in the middle, the better the group getting used to having him there.
Owens attended only 3 ctr bounces for the entire match. That's crap! Just start him at ctr bounce and let him drift forward like Horne-Francis, like Prestia, like De Goey, and like Dusty

I remember those three times well. We looked like we had ball-winning intent.
I agree with your ideas of how Owens should be used.
