Re: Chasing Weitering
He'd be awesome to get but realistically...Why are we wasting our time?
No chance he's leaving the brownbaggers...they will keep him there...one way or another

Re: Chasing Weitering
So based on $1.5 million for Weitering what would Rozee or Butters be worth?
And what would we offer Windhager and Battle?

Re: Chasing Weitering
Would be an amazing addition
Next year's backline.
Wilkie Howard Stocker
Milera Weitering Battle
Sinclair onto the ball.
Bonner off the bench

Re: Chasing Weitering
It's a pipe dream
How is getting one good defender going to change our fortunes?
We couldn't prize out TDK so what makes them think Weitering will bite?
It's also a stupid amount of money and typical of our club looking for short cuts. Every player looking to move and every player manager will be trying to extract overs from the St Kilda FC
If Ross Lyon wants to coach Carlton players why didn't he just try and get the Carlton coaching job?

Is this even legit?
We need gun two midfielders to replace Crouch and Ross.

It's a good ploy to break Carlton's salary cap.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Chasing Weitering
Main Goal ... win Premiership
If that's not achievable then .... Destroy Carlscum's Salary Cap
Its a solid and very likeable fallback plan .... count me in

Re: Chasing Weitering
We have never replaced Carlisle - and that has been to our detriment
My view is that you build sides from defence
So there is your answer from me
Yes, we also need support for Marshall and for King but the question is where are the options across the competition
And mids - well, we have started with Windhager, potentially Owens and with Wilson and Henry (noting Sinclair as an option also)
We went after DeGoey - and if we do go after a mid he needs to be of that quality at least so again where are the options
You start where you can start
And I would note Melbourne’s recruiting of May and Lever and their importance to Melbourne

We were rated no 1 defence last year and sit 6th in pts against this year ... I think Carlisle was well and truly replacedKilla wrote: ↑Tue 14 May 2024 10:18pm We have never replaced Carlisle - and that has been to our detriment

Re: Chasing Weitering
About as stupid as it gets.
Most likely a 10 year deal.
Not sure where that massive salary capacity is coming from. Zac Jones?
With Phillipou NWM Winghager, Wilson and Co coming through we will need some space.
We need a gun midfielder. One that is 23-24 with their best days ahead.
Not someone that was at their best last year.

Re: Chasing Weitering
I like it.
Nobody is still talking about Pou’s manager
If he stays at Carlton then they won’t be able to hide the actual salary they will have to pay him (similar scenario to Aaron Hamil)
In the meantime we can be negotiating with LDU or whoever else they have on their target list knowing that at least one competitor has their salary cap hands tied

Re: Chasing Weitering
And how much better would our defence be with a class KPP sized defender leading our outer defence?
Releasing the under sized Wilkie and Battle to more appropriate match ups
Remember also that Silvagni is on our payroll - and his son is on Carlton’s List

Re: Chasing Weitering
Make sure we keep Battle and Windhager.
Recruit another batch of decent kids.
Then look for a couple of quality mids ..like Butters, Gulden or Tom Green .. hopefully around age 23-24
Then a couple of free agents to 'complete' the list so it's good for the next 4-5 years.
Oh, we may also need a new coach with a more attacking game plan.
