He will do well there. He has a point to prove and will show us up as poor judges of talent.
We develop talent poorly. Just when he was showing good signs we made him the sub 3 weeks in a row.

Steele does a collarbone and there was no like for like replacement. We played senior guys who were out of form while guys like Jack played VFL

Be interesting to see if Jack has got quicker.
Pies rely on speed on the large MCG.

I wonder who Jack would have replaced in our team that beat Collingwood earlier this year.

Good point. We didn't have too many weak cogs on that night.

Gresham 18 possessions

Nick Hind 20 possessions

In a win vs GWS

I don’t think many ppl thought that Gresh was s*** - consistency has always been the issue. Has been decent for the bombers but his performances don’t look to me like he’s improved out of sight.
Not sure that he’s worth north of $600-700+.

Personally I prefer Higgins

Hind was another that most seem to wish had more opportunity with us… but we opted to sink that investment time into Kent/Lonie etc
I remember the consensus was annoyance and indifference when he was moved on

Hind this season is below average for disposals, marks, tackles, goals, clearances, effective disposals, disposal efficiency, meters gained, contested possessions, and pressure acts.

Not sure this position suits him either apparently. Just a deficient player sadly.

I didn’t watch the game but it looks like he was sub initially, came on for 7 touches… maybe finished the game off?

Probably the type of player that is reasonable to have on the list as a good depth player

Started as the sub, came on in Q2, got concussed. Played 46% game time

At that time we had Clark and Coffield parked in our back 6 and both performing.

Hind played forward and played one decent game.

Hind was among those we bought in to give mid aged experience to a List which had gaping demographic holes.

Bulldust

Played his role and was going well for the time he was on ground.

Got bumped a split moment after he handballed the footy. Jack Darling was careless with an elbow/forearm to Jack's head.

Bytel wanted to play on, but the Collingwood medical staff took him off for precaution and to do the concussion assessments...I think he was ruled out for the remainder of the game

Does anyone on this forum seriously think getting rid of Hind was a bad move? He’s probably been worse at Essendon than when he was with us. Biggest whipping boy at the bombers and for good reason. Spud.

Not so much a bad move…

But we have him away for nothing whilst keeping a bunch of players that were considerably less talented and cost more to keep. He wouldn’t be in our top 22 presently… but those other guys are all long gone so not a good move either

I personally find it difficult to get too bothered about losing players like Hind, or Bytel, or Gresham, or even Acres and Billings. All of them have their points, but we've got players coming through now who are likely to be as good or better.

I'm bothered more about the 2009 to 2016 period, when we
- drove Ball away and then effectively replaced him on our list with the odious Lovett, who never played a game for us while Ball helped lead the Pies to defeat us in a GF;
- allowed Pelchen to get rid of BJ, Dal and McEvoy as part of his mad scientist approach to list management;
- picked McCartin ahead of Petracca in the 2015 draft, when Petracca was the bleedingly obvious choice; and
- built up an enormous war chest to land some big trades at precisely the wrong time: that is, in the very year in which the AFL decided to significantly increase the size of salary caps.

On top of these calls, some would (and frequently do) complain about our picking Billings ahead of the Bont in the 2013 draft, but at the time everybody in football saw the Bulldogs' decision to use a high draft pick on him as a bit of a roll of the dice, so I'm not so down on that decision. (The club can argue that they were uncertain about the Bont's durability and performance, whereas there was virtually no doubt that Petracca was going to be a star.)

Another decision I'm not too keen on was our 2014 decision to trade Rhys Stanley for bugger all.

Anyway, in comparison to all of these terrible decisions (at least with the benefit of hindsight), our decisions to dispense with Hind and even Acres don't look that bad with me.

Saints did not get rid of Hind. He got a better offer from Essendon. They offered him 2 years and we were only willing to offer 1 year.
