Teflon, I agree on Ross and Membrey. They're nearly done. Ross plays one solid game and then follows up with a couple of stinkers. Membrey seems to have lost some zip, but playing in that forward line at the moment would be a misery

Teffers
You still haven’t explain to me why it was all the coaches fault under the previous 2 coaches
And with a far better team it’s now the players fault. And the coach ESCAPES any criticism!!!
The inability of this team to score and beat even weak opponents is damning and comes back to the game plan
The modern game started in 2017 when the tigers shifted the style of play from a ball control press to a forward possession and speed on the ball game
What is the RL record in that era? I’ll look it up.

Effing pathetic. Dropped marks, fumbles and second to the ball all afternoon.

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
Lack of skills, compassion and organisation is so obvious to me. If RTB was down on the bench at the start of the game today I would have felt that at least he is doing his best, especially after all the recent losses and an average performance last week against the bottom side. Coming down to the bench today after the horse had bolted isn't good enough. The Fireman wrote: ↑Sat 11 May 2024 5:41pm Yep season over. Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
The pies were obviously having a run of poor form after winning the flag ... with a reduced pre-season following their extended flag-winning season, Teflon.
How do you on the other hand explain the hot and cold form of our players?
Our players were obviously good enough to beat the pies!
You can't have it both ways.

Its still all about the coach.B.M wrote: ↑Sat 11 May 2024 5:46pm So Ross has failed with this team Teflon?
He is going to rebuild now?!
lol
We surprised opposition for the first 5 rounds and snuck into the 8 since then have won 9 out of the last 27
Not the genius you lead us to believe
And remember, when Ratten was coach - it was all about the coach?!
This time Teflon is blaming Richo for our losses. His legacy players in Seb Ross and Tim Membrey are the only players he blanes for todays loss
Ignore the game style, ignore the continual low scores, ignore the boring conservative selections, ignore the fact Sinclair and Hill cannot do it all every week and if you continue to play them for 85% game time you risk burning them out
Both Sincs and Hill were spent in the last quarter

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
I have been saying same thing as Teflon about Ross and Membrey. They are NOT our future and this year we are nowhere good enough, so play anyone else with upside ffs! We need to keep trying new talent and stop playing favourites that are well past their 'use by date'. Both these players are list cloggers now and good clubs make calls on these types much earlier and rightly so!
This club has unfortunately been poorly run both on a football level and administrative level for several years now. The playing list we have still has a long way to go. It's been a very average list since 2011.
Today was abysmal!

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
I’m disappointed. The melt down here is mediocre cmon guys let’s gets dirt
Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
They comprehensively won the midfield contest with aggression and pace.
They loaded up in defence with numbers, then spreading to multiple options making our players chase shadows.
And when there was 6 x 6 x 6, they won or halved the centre square contest so they could load up in defence.
The only area where we had the advantage was in our defence because with that midfield domination and run from defence when we did go forward they dominated and should have won by 15 goals not 5 points.
The only players we had who put pressure on their contest and numbers midfield were Marshall and Windhager (who tired due to lack of support)
There will be plenty attempting to impress at Sandringham with their pace, aggression in the contest and skills.
It is time we addressed cumbersome and slow players who do not impact the game.
It has been identified that it is a running game, so let us look at the personnel we continue to put on the park thru that lens
Not just pay lip service.

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
The fumbling from the start of the game was an indication how things were going to turn out. A lack of assertiveness was there for all to see. That's the killer. We did not look like we had any intention of imposing ourselves in the game. No aggression towards our opponents, no confident attack on the ball and afraid to take the game on and take risks.
Our ineffectual midfield gets constantly embarrassed at centre clearances and that's the main reason we have getting blown away in the first 15 minutes of most games.
Our best midfielder is a mediocre kick and at times a slow decision-maker. It's a midfield without energy or creativity, not to mention a paucity of class

It’s a midfielder game
We don’t have one
Hard to win each week when you rock up, lose clearance time and again and have to come from 5 goals down

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
Anyone who watches a lot of footy can see the way we're coached to play is the concern. No system, no structure, no 2024 ball movement. Players just randomly moving around playing a chip stop style and mostly rubbish f50 entries. Ross needs to move with the times or get out. Also not a slight on Marshall but once again smashed on hit outs. Don't care to reads the stats, to my eye hawks had 3 in 4 clearances. Is Campbell worth a try with roma mostly CHF?

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
I see RoMa had a ton of Supercoach points, grab, kick, turnover...Meek beat him in the ruck contest and gave their, equally average, midfield a better than 50% chance of a clearance.
We need a genuine centre bounce ruck or else we will always be playing catch up from our D50. But, hey, RoMa got alot of points.
RoMa is a very good player but we need a ruckman who can give our mids a chance. Centre clearances mean nothing if our forwards are not advantaged.
