Votes v Hawks
5. Jack Steele. Kept lifting . Great desire.
4. Rowan Marshall . His opponent was excellent, but Rowan was even better, especially late.
3. Josh Battle.
2. Cal Wilkie.
1. Riley Bonner. Superb early. Less so later on, but I think only the four players above went past him.
In good news for all Saints supporters, I will be away next week for work and will miss the Freo game. The last game I missed was our best one for the season- v Collingwood.

Cal Wilkie
Riley Bonner
NWM
Good second half
Wood and Battle
Up to a 10 passengers - forward line was dysfunctional

Re: Votes v Hawks
Steele & Nasiah had their arses handed to them in the 1st quarter and that set the tone for the day.
And Wilkie gave away 2 x 50’s.
Leadership appalling.
Marshall, Battle and Bonner can have a few votes .. the rest can go f#ck ‘emselves

Re: Votes v Hawks
5. Steele. 10 tackles to halftime.
4. Marshall. Absolute warrior. Meek had a huge impact for the hawks though particularly at centre bounce.
3. Battle. Looked likely went he went forward
2. Wood. Tried to run & create. Couple of strong marks. Nearly got us over the line.
1. Bonner. His good outweighed his bad. Lack of defending at times is a concern but he found it plenty & used it largely ok

Re: Votes v Hawks
Hey guys - please vote for the 5 players who can in all honesty put their hand out for their paycheck this week. Or don't - after that insipid performance - I really don't give a flying ....

Re: Votes v Hawks
Can see a few people giving Marshall best on. He got 28 touches at 50% disposal efficiency. 14 effective disposals
He had 11 turnovers and another 4 clanger possessions….so let’s look at that and compare with his opponent
Meek beat him as far as tap outs in the centre and probably broke even around the ground as far as ruckwork is concerned
Meek also had 14 touches. 10 of them effective. Meek had 4 score involvements. Meek also scored a goal
Marshall had zero score involvements. Marshall didn’t impact the scoreboard.
Marshall tried his guts out and his pressure and tackling and clearance work can’tbe ignored, but neither can his effectiveness today

Apologies to Windy, Marshall and NWM.
It was a toss up for me between Wood and Windy for the 1 vote. Wood had more contested possessions than Windy and his disposal efficiency was markedly better.
Windy tried his guts out, but needs a bit more polish in his game. Too many rushed kicks. He had 4 inside 50’s and only 1 score involvement. Wood had 5 score involvements.

Re: Votes v Hawks
Marshall was enormous
23 contested possessions
A StK all time record - since that data has been recorded

Re: Votes v Hawks
How many of his possessions resulted in direct turnovers and clangers?
The stats say 14 of them. I remember one of his kicks from the full back line went straight to a Hawks player 20 m out dead in front.
He gave away a free kick with a late hit on a Hawks player on the wing (it wasn’t that brutal or anything but it was a late bump).
There was about 2 minutes left on the clock or something like that and it gave them a shot on goal and we lost around 50 seconds
His opponent beat him in the ruck. His opponent had 4 score involvements. Rowan had zero

Re: Votes v Hawks
For a ruckman to get 28 possessions
23 contested
539 metres gained
37 hit outs
12 clearances
11 tackles
I don’t care what you say, that is a huge game!!!

Re: Votes v Hawks
Got to base my votes on effective effort over four quarters, not just stats so..
5. Battle
4. Wilke
3. Bonner
2. Marshall ( though his opponent did well early)
1. Steele (another slow start to a game but I'll cut him slack for coming good later)
