Not sure if I agree. Lacking in imagination and flair. Battle up forward was good. But the overall setup was horrible.
Something needs to change.

Sorry, mate. This sort of crap simply just doesn't cut it. I would suggest that tonight you might go to the pub/go for a walk/piss off one way or another.Teflon wrote: ↑Sat 11 May 2024 5:22pm Coaches did well today

It takes until the last quarter to decide to try to win the game rather than to try to purely negate the opposition.
Bassett needs to make a hard call.
Give him till the end of the season to change his anti-football approach and if he won't or can't then fire him tomorrow. We may not be a better side under another coach but we sure as he'll won't be worse.

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
Most of the 50/50 umpire calls seem to go against us in last quarter but another game where we had the opportunities to win.
Won nearly every stat except free kicks and final score.
Inside 50's 52 to 44.

Yes Marshall hacked the ball out of stoppages and none of our players upfield thought to play in front of their opponents. I mean...it's not bloody hard to figure out. They know Marshall does it, but they still sit back on their damn heels and let the defenders run on the ball!!!

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
BTW, Battle up forward wasn't good. It was a desperate move. Battle is a really good player, but is at his best down back. As is Sinclair. Do any of you remember Alan Richardson's tendency to move Carlisle forward when things got desperate? That's the sort of situation we were in this afternoon.
Ross on the sideline. How often does that happen?

Genuine effort. We could have won but we didn't
That's your ultimate in tanking today
Thanks Ross Lyon and selection committee for playing Ben Paton instead of Paddy Dow
Not saying Ben is hopeless, but game was nearly all over by the time he came on.
Dow would have made a difference in the middle from the first bounce

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
Fk off the coaches were good
We kicked 7 goals
The battle move took an hour. It wasn’t a good move, it was an obvious move - too late
Mate if you’re impressed by that - your ignorant to AFL footy
It was one of the worse performances against a bottom team without Sicily
Pathetic effort by coaches and players

I’ve said before - we continue to let these weak insipid **** off the hook
Seb Roos - finished, absolutely trash
Membrey - pathetic passenger
I’d say Garcia/Hastie out of their depth but get a leave pass cause they’re kids
Jack Hayes ?? You’re 28 …gotta do more than 1 decent game …living off the reputation from 2 years ago
Brad Hill - weak, gutless ….brushed off by Hawks kids when “fake tackles.”
Weak

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
I thought Sicily missing would have tipped the scales our way ... but the better-coached/drilled team won.
Coaches do make a difference after all.

Strange call. Lyon was hired 24th October 2022, trade period ended 12th October 2022.samoht wrote: ↑Sat 11 May 2024 5:27pmRTB set us back 5 years at least with his recruiting of rejects.Teflon wrote: ↑Sat 11 May 2024 5:22pm Coaches did well today

So the only "rejects" this could apply to are Liam Henry and Paddy Dow. Bonner was a delisted free agent.
Curious who you're referring to.
