Re: Isaac Keeler
You can be small (maybe not 65kg small?) if you’re a crumbing small forward
But as a key tall forward/ruckman you don’t need to be big - but you need strength to compete
Ryder was not big
197/94
But he was strong
If I had to guess, I’d say Keeler is 198/90 maybe he weighs a little less
I’d like him to get to 95kg

Re: Isaac Keeler
Not sure what to make of it but Keeler trained with the A group today which comprised most of team that played against NM. All those who played at Sandy and a few others comprised a smaller group who did a separate session.

Re: Isaac Keeler
Did you notice anyone playing the role of Sicily? E.G. players kicking it to the Sicily actor rather than a team mate and the actor then kicking to someone open in the corridor. (If that played out it would be interesting to know how that repeated scenario was defended).66Iwasthere wrote: ↑Tue 07 May 2024 5:12pm Not sure what to make of it but Keeler trained with the A group today which comprised most of team that played against NM. That he certainly did.saynta wrote: ↑Tue 02 Apr 2024 7:14pmFrom memory Kossi won the rising star playing CHB in his first year.B.M wrote: ↑Tue 02 Apr 2024 10:58am Fraser Gehrig played a few seasons in defence before they realised it was stupid and moved him forward where he became a star
He was a forward/wing at WCE
Reiwoldt kicked 21 goals in his first full year - yes played 5 or 6 games at CHB early but ended up in his natural position at chf
Alastair Lynch was drafted as a defender and moved forward after a few years
Other players who dabbled with going back but were champion forwards
David Neitz, Chris Grant, Garry Lyon, John Longmire
All of whom were greater and more damaging forward
Not comparing Issac to any of those champions of course
We just have a unique player on the list - and we are not utilising his ability - it’s a mistake

Agree with this. Can be a great way to accelerate a forwards development.chook23 wrote: ↑Tue 02 Apr 2024 11:17amYou are talking about players who dabbled going back but ended up forward..B.M wrote: ↑Tue 02 Apr 2024 10:58am Fraser Gehrig played a few seasons in defence before they realised it was stupid and moved him forward where he became a star

It could be that they are doing this with Keeler to teach him a few things
You say we are not utilising and it's a mistake
Maybe we are just doing what is part of the development
that was used on players you mentioned
Wish we did it with Paddy Mc!

Re: Isaac Keeler
Given the Paddy Ryder comparison, it is worth noting Ryder was a beanpole stick insect when drafted and certainly managed to beef up and become a more physical player over his career.
