Ross weekly Pressers
Why does he always have to go on about how good the opposition and opposition coach is?!
Lists their guns, talks about how good they can be.
Hope he doesn’t communicate that crap to the players

Re: Ross weekly Pressers
I guess it's gracious to acknowledge opponents. I can remember the practice of lining up and shaking hands with opponents after amateur games, regardless of the result; can't remember sides ridiculing each other.
Also it might have come to a point where it is clear for all the knowledge he has imparted, for all the faith he has shown by selecting players even after shockers, a significant number of the current squad do not have the necessary wit, commitment, athleticism or skills.
While he seems to have been honest and realistic about improvement being a long haul he probably does not want to say out loud certain players are only in on sufferance. He would be crucified, players concerned likely to sulk mightily.
So how to fill in 10 minutes of inane presser questioning. Don't mention the war is one tactic, even if it means giving hollow credit to the oppo.

Just say
I’m not here to focus on the opposition
In team meeting
Focus on how to beat them - their weaknesses
Not how they can beat us - their strengths

Re: Ross weekly Pressers
No matter what RTB says and who is selected is one thing and the cards stacked against him is another. he is building for long term success and trying to give us fans something to amuse us in the meantime - the marketing department are pushing for Thursday nights which might be good for the club in the long term but can cause us to play the 3 games in 3 states without proper recovery time as what has just happened. RTB does not complain but supporters are evaluating what is happening as if we are a rich club and the AFL is a level playing field. I think we will see more stinkers during this rebuild and I for one don't want to see us affecting long term success just to appease supporters who refuse to, or are not capable of seeing the big picture.

Re: Ross weekly Pressers
Those pressers are an exercise in bulldust, a complete waste of time.
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

I didn't like that he announced we aren't challenging ( or something along those lines). Always goes on about how the players shouldn't listen to the narrative, then basically admits defeat. I know it's not that simple, but still, don't like it. A season can turn but if you just announce it's a 'year of exploration' or a slow burn, then you solidify it as such.

Never been a great fan of the bloke but what do people want him to say?
That we're a juggernaut and he can't see how we lose a game.
Rambles on a bit, but doing what Joh-Bjelke called "feeding the chooks"!

Re: Ross weekly Pressers
Exactly.
Why fuss.
Last genuine one was Kim Huges resignation.
Footy journos are pathetic. Every coach does the presser through gritted teeth. Except Voss who is very up himself and thinks people care what he says. But even he talks in tongues.

Re: Ross weekly Pressers
Get more out of half a Ross presser than all of Ratten/Richo’s bland dribble combined
“Yeah….nah””
