Trade King
We play better without him.
Save the salary cap space and gain the draft picks.

Re: Trade King
I hate to say it but I think I agree.
Either he’s not as good as hoped or our coaches can’t get it out of him.
Get something while the ‘potential’ tag is still there

Re: Trade King
IMO this is the symptom of a greater problem.
We had this discussion a bit last week… the guy doesn’t lead and we seem to just kick it to packs when he’s there. A way of thinking is that this is the game plan and the hope is that we capitalise off the crumbs.
As others including myself have pointed out… it’s a very warped approach and does nothing for King himself who is a nightmare match up and is even worse for the other forwards.
When he’s not there… the whole style changes. Forward line is open and we play to a lead/mark/crumb style where the key forward has every chance to mark or the crumber compete one on one instead of in packs for a miracle play.
King is an easy scapegoat and has absolutely done himself no favours but as I said last week…
It is very weird that Pou, Cordy, Caminati, Butler, Higgins and Gresjh forward line is the most shockingly efficient one we’ve had in a year and half.
Why King isn’t out on the lead 1:1 is a bewildering mystery
Whatever this is… it’s a huge tactical issue

Re: Trade King
I still believe he's the player we can build a Premiership forward line around. That said, regardless of injury, I would have dropped him for next week, along with a few others who need to know, A) They are not indispensable B) Have not made it yet.

Re: Trade King
I’ve been on this for quite some time. I’d rather have a Miocheck type which Caminiti does than a bloke who we will pay a fortune to forever kick points & out on the fulls from fairly good positions. Honestly, he is almost 24. Has he ever had a strong game against a top side? 3 plus goals etc.
We are crying out for ‘A’ grade midfielders. I’m not convinced Max will be the match winner in big games we were wanting.

and that's the bottom line

Re: Trade King
His goal kicking is a problem. He's never going to be a smash and bash forward. He has to lead more. He gets held off the ball all the time and struggles with it. Someone should send him to a martial arts specialist to teach him how to get out of the grips of his opponents off the ball

Re: Trade King
His body language is disgraceful
Soft - even timid
Looks scared to have a shot
Doesn’t work hard and present
Needs a kick up the arse

What BJJ or Muay Thai is going to help him break away from opponents? Gease.
He needs to work on his power from standing re sprinting and needs better lead patterns.

North have Larkey and Zip Zap, they really need a key back and can't see them trading away their generational talent for King.

Re: Trade King
Need 3 kicking zones occupied by 3 big guys
I would be happy if King did not kick another goal for the season - if Hammer, Higgins and Membrey kick 20 because he has taken the best defender and taken them to ineffective places
Not sure all the blame can be laid at his feet - but FFS stop flipping the ball - if you miss it looks so bad and Kinb is a better than decent field kick - just teach him to love or hate Steele - there is usually a Steel giant head behind the goals - hit him on the nose

Re: Trade King
I think he needs to get in the game more , a couple of games ago he was taking marks up the wing then going back deep and played ok.
Our poor skills were on display today.
On the broadcast someone suggested giving him a run in the ruck.
Compare him to Joe Daniher who goes unseen but plays a lot better when he moves around the ground.

Hawthorn would be keen - don't think they'd give up Day or Newcombe for him - but that's what it'd take.

Re: Trade King
Is it time to see how he goes as a ruckman?
Ironically he doesn't seem to suit being the number one fall forward, or a forward at all?
