AFL StKilda tax sees Green free to play
Green head slammed young GC defender Mac’s head into the turf.
Arms pinned and completely helpless his head cannoned into the ground
Worth 2
Playing StKilda this week tax he is FREE to play
Shocked

I think they did the right thing, this time. It should have been a free and that’s all.
Still, the whole grading system seems very subjective and they are not consistent.

Apparently there is potential to cause injury - well when you are King and Windhager

I don't mind you CURLY but ..... Andrew's head head hardly bounced off the turf and he was fine enough to jump up and ragdoll Greene to the ground afterwards and give away a dumb free kick which resulted in a goal
Let's move on and test ourselves against a full strength Giants side

Re: AFL StKilda tax sees Green free to play
Much easier. Less analysis of the “offence”. AFL wants GWS to win flag this year and will actively move to progress this.
On a side line, I did enjoy our Captain telling it like it is, when playing in , er, wherever it was. Can you imagine Port Adelaide playing in Moorabbin? Neither can I.

Hey Dud - this is what gets my goat!
The AFL preached protect the head, and that people were going to be suspended if the head hit the ground in a tackle, and that pinning the arms in a tackle would not be accepted - this is FACT.
King gets suspended for POTENTIAL to cause injury
Windhager gets suspended for POTENTIAL to cause injury
Lachie Fogarty (Carlton) gets suspended for POTENTIAL to cause injury
etc
Your response - tin foil hats.
Tell me where the AFL says it is Okay to pin arms and tackle - Even the tackle on Anderson had the potential to cause injury.
One arm pinned - head hit ground - Okay??
The AFL is a money making machine - and if Toby puts bums on seats - then he plays.
Same goes for Vlastuin.

Same tackle as I saw 5 times or more yesterday during our game and nearly all were let go
Vlastuin only one that got pinged and we kicked the goal anyway

The tinfoil hats were for those who legitimately think the AFL goes “wow look at that dangerous tackle, better rub Toby out for one week… wait a sec, let’s see who he plays next week first… oh it’s St Kilda! Nah in that case let him play!”Sainter_Dad wrote: ↑Mon 08 Apr 2024 8:44pmHey Dud - this is what gets my goat!

Now that isn’t a joke or facetious at all, that is 100% what they think happens.

Re: AFL StKilda tax sees Green free to play
This thread suggests we need a seperate fan forum for whinging about everything the AFL does that disadvantages St Kilda
I’ve given this some thought.
It should be called Nuff Nuff Central
…I’ll be a regular nuffy contributor

Probably not relevant to this case but Christian has openly admitted his hatred for St Kilda during his playing days so sometimes you just have to wonder.

No - I am not a believer in 'let's get St Kilda' specificallyThe_Dud wrote: ↑Mon 08 Apr 2024 11:53pm

But I do believe there is one rule for some and one rule for others.
As we have discussed (for want of a better term):
- I do not think that the Umpires are against us - I just think they are crap at their job.
- I do not think that Michael Christian is against us - I just think he toes a party line.
- I do not think that Laura Kane is against us - I just think she has very ordinary choice of words.
I cannot see how Toby escapes sanction for 2 attempted slam tackles - after the AFL has come out and SPECIFICALLY said that these would be deemed on POTENTIAL to cause injury.
I find it hard to reconcile a stated position from the outcome - maybe it is that Michael Christian is also crap at his job.

Re: AFL StKilda tax sees Green free to play
I don’t understand how anyone who believes this sort of garbage can stand to keep on following the game.
Try telling a Dockers supporter this week how unfairly the Saints have been treated and see how far it gets you.
The AFL is an imperfectly-run game managed by imperfect humans. As an example: if the AFL really wants to stop tacklers wrapping up players’ arms and thereby risking concussion when the head comes into contact with the ground, they could starting instructing the umpires to start penalising players for the BS disposals we see let go each week: you know, the ones where the player wrapped up in the tackle more or less drop the ball into the hands of their teammate. Tacklers try to wrap up the arms of their opponents tightly to avoid such “disposals.”
There’s no bias involved in this. We get away with these as much as any other club.
